Default Anyone else seeing crazy delays on packages coming in from the States?

    - Package left California on July 1st
    - Then departed Vancouver on July 7th....

    July 7, 2020, 8:08 am
    Departed
    VANCOUVER, CANADA
Your item departed a transfer airport in METROPOLITAN AREA, VANCOUVER, CANADA on July 7, 2020 at 8:08 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
And now nothing, no updates since then.

Company claims it tied up in customs and delays are "normal with Covid". Was shipped USPS so it gets transferred to CanadaPost eventually however they are still waiting for the package. Is Canada customs that delayed these days? Seem crazy if there is a 2 week delay at customs.

Does the tracking show anything about customs?
If its a USPS tracking number transferred to CanadaPost you can use the CP tracking page for more detailed information.

Assume the destination is not Calgary?

I'm going to say yes, with the influx of everyone working from home and being scared, online shopping has increased 10 fold, and thus shipping companies/Canada customs can't handle the workload with Covid staff reduced.

With that said, I received something from California, through FedEX in 4 days.

I had a few things that took a month to get here from UK over the past few months. I’m currently waiting for a few more things from UK and it’s been 3 weeks and the tracking shows it’s somewhere between UK and Canada. I’m guessing that they are sitting in the airport somewhere. Oddly enough this week I had an item from UK that took a bit over a week and an item from Asia that also took a bit over a week. It’s a bit of crapshoot but longer delivery time seems to be the norm.

Yes, and not just stuff coming cross-border, even shipments inside Canada with Canada Post are moving at a snail's pace. We had a package from Ontario sit in Mississauga for two weeks.

Canada Post is more the issue, rather than the fact that it's coming from the USA, IMO. They are absolutely brutal locally and especially internationally.

I've been using Purolator / UPS and have had no issues. Purolator is allowed to ring your doorbell and hand you the package, too. Also my shipments from USA Amazon warehouses haven't been delayed but those get transferred to Amazon's own local couriers when it hits Calgary.

    Sounds good, thanks guys.

Figured it was CanadaPost being useless (as usual). Guess I should have paid the extra $8 for fedex

I had a package come in from FedEx overnight yesterday. Left Memphis 9pm, arrived in Calgary 8AM, in my hands 2pm.

    It’s your carrier not covid

Canada Post is an embarrassment of a postal service in a good year, right now it's horrific

60 days and I still have no package from US. USPS said it in a LA facilities somewhere. Canada Post said they didn't have it and still in US.

No delays on my last few packages from Colorado routed through Delaware with UPS and Fedex. Found them to be faster in fact.

    This.

21 days to cross Canada (went to Toronto god knows why) next day USPS delivered it in San Diego.

Got one that sat in Vancouver (?Burnaby) for 3 weeks then took two more to get to Calgary.

Meanwhile it's 20$ to send a tiny box to Calgary from high river. In the USA that's 2-3$. It's actually cheaper to buy from the USA on small $ items because the shipping is reasonable. Something needs to be done.

Same deal with USPS.....the CSR told me today she's seeing anything going through Vancouver having this issue.

Meanwhile UPS was able to get a package from Finland to me in 2 days last week

    Bump!

We have movement. Sat in a pile in Vancouver for 5 weeks. Totally ridiculous.

I gad a package shipped from the US by DHL and the tracking number said it was handed to local post on July 22, 2020. Still haven't received it.

China to Canada -> 2 Months via Canada Post (China post origin)
USA to Canada -> ~52 Days via Canada Post (US Postal Service Origin)

FedEx -> No delays, standard promise (sometimes faster than pre-COVID)
UPS -> No delays, standard promise (sometimes faster than pre-COVID)

This - I went as far as setting up accounts with the big three (UPS, Fedex, purolator) so that the shipper can have anything (customs etc) charged to my account as needed automatically. Also nice to have SNR stickers on my door. No need to go to a CP depot to grab items anymore (they dont usually do drops now).

Package shipped from Covid Cali and took one day to get to Calgary. Then Calgary dicked around, saying driver's don't take credit cards anymore due to covid and all this other run around. 4 days later I get the package.
You'd think a FedEx driver in California would be more concerned with contracting covid than Calgary drivers and staff.
Seems like the issue is a Canadian thing not a USA problem.
