I saw this on reddit yesterday or today. Dale Earnhardt's car being loaded onto a Wrangler plane in 1981. I guess Wrangler had their own planes to fly raw material either to or from South America, I don't remember which.



And this promotional photo for the 1979 season finale at Ontario Motor Speedway. Darrell Waltrip led the championship over Richard Petty by 2 points. Petty's 5th place finish over Waltrip's 8th gave Petty his 7th Winston Cup championship by 11 points.

I saw this on Instagram the other day. Just a picture of the snowy A18 on the Isle of Man, which in June and August every year forms part of the TT Mountain Course. This is about 31 miles into the course at Hailwood's, looking past the Bungalow to the Verandah.

How did I not know this thread existed?!

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure this photo is from the 12hr of Sebring in 1967... The car burnt to the ground in its next race, and has since been through some of the best collections in the world, restored by Ferrari and is now in a Canadian collection.

You're right... I was only focussed on the car / racing number and now realized my entire post was wrong... The shenanigans with racing numbers and chassis switching was bonkers back then.

I spent a long time looking at the picture looking for any clue about the track before I noticed NASCAR 2 looming in the background haha. Sometimes it's so obvious you can't see it.

RahMoc Enterprises teammates Lake Speed #75 and Jody Ridley #57 in the 1986 Daytona 500. Keen-eyed viewers will notice how strange this picture is, in that it's two drivers on the same team but Speed is in a Chevy Monte Carlo and Ridley is in a Ford Thunderbird. I don't know why.
