MLB and COVID-19

Well that season didn't last long. Expected it, just not so fast.

Marlins had 4 players test positive yesterday. They quarantined the 4, but still played their triple with Philly. Of course this morning more test results came back and they're at 12 players and 2 coaches positive, which means they fielded a team yesterday that had positive players. Yikes.

Marlins cancel their home game, Philly cancel their game with Yankees. Who thought it was a good idea to restart MLB like there's no pandemic lol. Apparently there's no bubble, players and staff are free to do whatever they want, and all the teams are travelling everywhere to play their games. The only thing they're doing is testing, and as yesterday showed, 4 positive results isn't enough to postpone a game. Good on Toronto to call bullshit and not allow the Jays to play at home.

Will be interesting to see how the NBA single bubble and NHL double bubble play out over the next few weeks. But man, 3 days into a season and we have an outbreak that took out 1/3 of a team. That's fucked up.

NHL did a big round of testing and announced 0 positive results this morning. Here's hoping it holds. Of the 3 I think the NHL is doing the best... NBA in Florida is just asking for trouble

From my understanding the NHL created a bubble so players can still go out for drinks and food and such to certain restaurants thatll only be for the NHL. So at least they can still party. The MLB just seems like they weren't even trying.

I think the NBA's single bubble has the best chance of succeeding even though staff are free to go in and out.
