    Default Kitchen design ideas...

alright, so ive found a house that I love for my own reasons, but wife hates the kitchen and wants it completely transformed.

The problem is, i have absolutely no idea if that can even happen, so this house might slip through the cracks for me if it can't be fixed.

Attached are some pics, help me get into this house!

FULL DISCLOSURE: oversized double attached garage in front with a 28x29 heated/220 shop in the back. I have to have it, help a brother out.

Depends on your budget, but move the fireplace and blow out that wall. Staircase behind, but it’s now open,
Build and island and voila kitchen done.

    Is this Strathmore or airdrie?
Wife and I just bought back in Airdrie

Ya im not sure of budget yet, but that was the only thing I thought of. The house is well under budget, but it needs a basement development too.

This is still in strathmore, we've decided to stay....well, she's making me stay lol

House we bought also has a double attached in front and 20x22 heated detached in rear.
    I’m stoked.

    Define what this means.

-Are you trying to facelift the cabinets
-Are you trying to move somethings around in the same sized footprint
-Are you trying to blow out walls, install a 20 foot island
-Are you trying to move the kitchen to the opposite side of the house and repurpose this area

She hates everything about the kitchen. Wall would probably need to come out and anything else to maybe add an island etc

For the layout you need a U-shaped kitchen with an island. Like this:

Whatever you have to spend on the kitchen just do it. You are buying that garage and shop, and you know you'd never be allowed to add that later.

The wall looks like it isn't load bearing based on the fridge and cupboards in there. Could take it out, but then you're losing space in a small kitchen. Also there are stairs on the backside which would be a pain to deal with. Having the pantry there is weird, but I am guessing it's actually quite small due to the stairs?

What's to the left? Dining room? Doesn't look easy.

Movable island is nicer for flexibility, but yeah; tear that wall down and remove the fireplace. So awkward looking.

You can easily refinish the cupboards, stainless steel appliances, Caesarstone... DONE. If you make changes to make the current space brighter, it'll look bigger and more welcoming.

OP: That's a tricky space with the stairs, fireplace, and vaulted ceiling.

I would get rid of the fireplace and open that area up while sacrificing the pantry to add more cabinet space. You are kind of limited to something like this. I would add a prep sink to the island.

If budget isn't a problem, the easiest way is to remove the wife.

You can still remove the pantry and give the illusion of more space.

You could have a beam installed to get rid of that load-bearing wall. It won't be cheap, but it's doable.

Laminate beams and you may need to reinforce in the basement, depending.
But worth it because you'll hate your life for the rest of the time you live in that house.
