    Default Stereo needs more POWA!

75% of the media I play is music streamed from Tidal, I also channel my inner hipster and play lots of records. I have a Marantz SR6012, Klipsch rf82's inside the house, Klipsch rx-5's on Zone 2 on my patio. I occasionally sit down and watch movies in 3 channel from the same system, rf82's and Klipsch rc64 center channel.

I'm looking for more power to drive my speakers for music in both zones. What do you recommend, external amp? How do I connect it all?

SOunds (haha) like you already have a pretty decent (mid level) setup - but where is the sub?

That’s the first thing you need to add before adding more power.

If your stereo has big enough openings use 12 AWG Solar panel wire for at least the subwoof. Bonus is that its truely weatherproof.

I don't think you need more power. That receiver has a good amp section and the RF82's are an efficient speaker (~150W).

First and foremost, calibrate your system if you have not done so already. A lot of people think their systems are under-powered because an improper setup has their receiver setting the channels to -12dB or something like that.

You don't mention a sub, and since you say you're watching movies, the subwoofer and center channel do around 80-90% of the work depending on the title, so I would definitely add a subwoofer before trying to add more amplification.

Personally I think you will notice zero difference in your setup with a more powerful amp since your current one is more than adequate for your speakers, assuming you have everything set up and calibrated properly.

Another thing you can try if you want to see what more power will do is try bi-amping your front speakers and do some experiments (if supported - check manuals). That way you don't have to go out and buy anything new just to see what more power sounds like.
