    Default Another Miata Thread

Just got pulled the trigger on this 1990 Miata. I have been trying to pick one up for little while and everything seemed be trading hands so quickly. I am pretty impressed with this one. Looks like original everything except for some respray on the front bumper.

Car came with this bra. Can't see myself using it at all but maybe it will be worth something some day.

Found some cheap wheels with good tires for about the same or less than it would have cost for OEM size tires.

Hard to see but it looks like the tires on the stock wheels are 20 years old. Yikes.

Nice, what wheels are those? I have similar ones on order too.

Guess we have a new beyond civic on our hands haha.

The wheels are called "ultra racing". I think its a discontinued Konig model. I am trying to figure out if I can get some center caps that will fit.

I think they’re the Heliums if they’re Konig. That was my first choice as well but it’s discontinued like you said.

Yeah it looks like the helium. But mine do not have the extra holes adjacent to the mounting wholes. Also the ultralight racing is all between two spokes instead of staggered across the rim. They dont have the monoblock stamp either if I recall correctly.

    EDIT!

I think I found them. Pretty sure these are Konig Feather wheels.

Nice! Yea, it's been surprisingly hard to find good looking cheap 15" wheels. Nobody seems to make them. I don't want to buy wheels that are more expensive than the car haha.

Another funny problem I ran into is finding old enough CD-R's that are compatible with the OEM CD player. Everything new does not work in it. I'm using a FM transmitter but the audio quality leaves a lot to be desired. Finally found some CD-Rs that worked, from my neighbor who has a lot of old stuff laying around. Who would've though I needed to hunt down 10 year old blank CDs haha.

Oh you're fancy! Mine has the OG tape deck. I ordered an FM transmitter to use with it because sadly physical mix tapes are probably hard to come by in 2020.

I have some speakers on order and speaker wire harnesses so I wont have to cut the factory wires. The passenger side speaker isn't working. I am hoping it is just the speaker and not the deck. I pulled that speaker and it didn't appear to have any weather protection on it even though Dr. Google claims there should be a vapor guard on the OEM speakers in these cars.

This is the FM transmitter and charging setup I went with.

FM transmitter has a QC3.0 port, the 3ft right angle cable allows you to have the 5 coil charging pad sit in the centre console. The wiring hides neatly under the carpet around the e-brake. As clean as I could get it without modifying anything. Drop the phone in centre console, music and charging.

I'm going to try this one.

I don't have wireless charging but I do have a small magnet mount I'll try using on the eyeball vent.

Nevermind the speakers. The left right balance was turned all the way to the left speaker. I'll try new speakers anyways and if they don't sound better just return them.
