One of the more accurate things you have ever said.

I think they do it a little TOO much honestly. Not my type, but they know their seafood.

Successful economies are driven by a small minority of people smart enough and skilled enough to cause that success. Then the worker bees do all the grunt work. The trick for the small minority of smart people is to create mechanisms to ensure the worker bees are happy to grunt away for the 70 years, living something resembling subsistence, until it is time for them to have their stroke or heart attack or cancer or whatever.

Things that make worker bees happy: distractions like pro sports, relatively cheap food and alcohol, a delusion that they also can ascend beyond worker-bee status. The economy needs these people to be either in productive mode, or distraction mode. This works because most of these people would just fuck it all up if they actually got to make decisions. When the worker bees get too much influence, you get, well...Canada. And we all know how well that is going.
Agreed. Just sucks as recent policies have killed the feasibility of SMEs (where people smart and skilled enough could have success) and now it's just funnelling rents up to the 0.01%.

I have no problem with the 1% being rewarded for their efforts, but being one of the 1/10,000 is just too damn much - particularly when most of it is driven by nepotism.

Yeah...it's a fine line between rewarding capitalism and devolving into a rent-seeking kleptocracy. Ironically, the more powerful the government the more likely that they devolve in such a fashion.

Yep. And all of the "woke" liberals wanting more government regulation and programs are walking right into the trap. Given all of the recent opaque COVID spending, it's difficult to think Canada isn't a kleptocracy already.

Just get rid of income taxes altogether and go all in with a land value tax. Let us basque in the development efficiency of the perfect tax.
That creates even worse tax unfairness. Get rid of income tax and go all in on GST.

Why don't we just 100% tax everything and let the Government decide how much money to give each of us on a weekly ration basis to be fair to all.

Just need to make sure we are also taxed on our ration and I think Trudeau would be amenable.

Well I mean really, would any of us have anything without Mother Country? It's time to stop being so ungrateful.

What I haven't seen discussed much is how Quebec is essentially exempt from these carbon tax increases due to their "cap and trade" system.
Meaning their cost of energy will be significantly lower than the rest of Canada..

If that's the case I'll be looking for a different job, unless the weekly ration is basis on how much you earn. Otherwise I'll go work somewhere with less responsibility and stress.

Could we just implement the same system as Quebec? It would be fun to see how Trudeau would spin why it's not good enough here. If the court challenge isn't in our favor.

I was just trying to realistically fathom who could have been a worse leader out of everyone who has led or even ran in the last few decades.
Preston Manning would've been a train wreck of hard right, churchy nutcase, downright racist cabinet sort of shit. But I'm confident, still better...

I couldn't do it. I think this is the worst possible leader in 30 years and maybe within the next 30.

    ...

You know... I bet Stephane Dion would have been worse. He was truly incompetent in all levels, across the board. I'll say he would've been worse.
    But barely

I remember asking my wife what the fuck I was supposed to put down when we had our first because I just wanted to say he was a boy. Then it gave me a good chuckle as I saw it again filling out the paperwork for my daughter. Can you imagine getting upset filling that form?
