When I hear the liberals and the NDP, this all I see:

Liberals: We will tax "everyone" 100% to save the poor and the environment.

NDP: Can we tax them 110%

Understand you now. I thought you meant benefits like deductions.

I still think a good drafter could catch all "non-cash benefits" with a couple clauses of good wording but it's true there would likely need to be specific calculation guidance for some of the more complicated structures. Although if the intention is to simplify things you just make really complicated compensation benefits illegal.
Okay then, I'll loan my employees money, with a 0% interest rate and an indefinite term.

    Loan money is never taxed.

Can we just have the liberal cabinet watch "the secret" and start manifesting money?

I'm going to go Yolobimmer for a sec but I think this new bill exceeds what it's intended to do. Basically, a foot in door for more and more government control over its people.

Isn’t that the crux of almost every government bill?

It already has, quite a few news articles recently quoting immigrants who haven't completed acquiring their Canadian citizenship leaving for the USA. Typically cite Canada acting like the countries they left.

That would be a cash benefit, although there would need to be consideration as to how to treat discounted products (e.g. for bank employees - financial products or car dealership employees - cheap cars). Most would be able to be fixed with an "at cost" type provision but for things like financial products, that can obviously be quite difficult to assess.

I have a lot of projects over the next few months but at some point I'll take a stab at drafting a 2-page personal income tax law and post it on Beyond for critique and criticism and can adjust it to fill gaps/loopholes others foresee.

This has been mentioned several times (along with a flat tax) and every time I point out how it will lead to further inequality.

Further, it would stomp the brakes on small businesses and further reward foreign imports (particularly unless Free Trade Agreements and cross-border digital service taxation can be fixed).

I dont have an issue with imports.

And inequality is a red herring.

Ok. So your plan is to encourage everyone to purchase goods/services from outside of Canada and force the majority of Canadian society into poverty?

Even the Bush government wasn't dumb enough to implement this.

Your plan is to use progressive income tax policies to create barriers to trade?

    Genius.
