The number of days in a week that the fire alarm gets pulled in my building because of the retail area below is crazy. Every other day, before 7am... Goes off.

Regular people getting abused and having to walk through a drug use area is craziness. Downtown was never like this when I was a teen.

I do think China is purposeful in exporting drugs to North America. Look up what the Brit's did to China a long time ago. Ruined China for decades.
Do you have a GoFundMe link for us doing this to China? I wish to switch my RRSP contributions to this.
    And TFSA.
    And income tax.

Used to be. I believe the flow is raw chemicals from china to Mexico, and finished product from Mexico now.

Still chinas fault to a degree. My bad.

I remember taking a public bus to A&B Sound Downtown to buy my first CD - Smashing Pumpkins, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness LOL - as an 11-year old.

To say Calgary has changed is an understatement.

Good friend (who also left Canada) has a brother in the CFD (Fire Inspector) who told him there's at least one major fire each night and most are related to drug users blacking out while using constant flow lighters...

Yea, and it's very likely the Chinese Government encourages the sales of these products to Mexico... kind of payback for the Opium War I guess only now against the US.

I’ve made an effort to walk E Hastings pretty regularly since the 90’s. People call it a shit hole but it’s not that bad. Well, it wasn’t that bad. Last year was the first time I had to turn around because it’s that fucked up now. There’s sections of sidewalk that’s completely blocked out from any sunlight. Essentially a murder tunnel. It’s nuts.

Edit - apparently they cleaned it up a bit literally the day I left: https://vancouversun.com/news/local-...ampment-update

I’m back again shortly, will attempt the walk to Chinatown again thru there.
That's wild how many cops they needed. And the poor folks cleaning up that biohazard disaster, yikes.

While some business owners and residents say the decision to dismantle the tent city has made the street safer, others are critical of an action that cost more than $400,000.

Records obtained by Postmedia through a freedom-of-information request reveal that over a four-day span in April during the evictions, $302,980 was spent on police overtime, $79,565 for municipal staffing, $13,196 for vehicles, $7,875 for storage bins and $5,098 in other costs.
If I ever move back I'm working for the Police or the City.

Trudeau has to be gay. I mean would anyone argue with me at this point?

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, but seeing addicts here passed out while still standing up is creepy as fuck.

I don't know if he's gay, and wouldn't care if he is, but he's a real faggot.

When was the last time you actually had to navigate that?
Pretty much daily. Downtown Calgary has gone to shit, and this is coming from someone you lived in downtown Edmonton for close to a decade. At least down here CPS and bylaw respond significantly faster to issues in Edmonton sometimes it would take months for anything to happen about encampments.

Wednesday morning, in the plus 15 from the McDougall parkade. Teak of three urban adventurers were using a lighter on something in tinfoil. Now I didn't think that was how you did that, but that's what they were doing. Indoors, during business hours, not hidden away.
    Smelled terrible.

So this is from "tranq" essentially a mix of fent and horse tranquillizers. I agree creepy as fuck but far more predictable than the ones screaming at their meth demons...
