If the Bloc didn't exist, I really wonder how things would turn out. There's a lot of rednecks in QC

Probably true that one conservative term might be very beneficial for the Liberal Party. Force them to do some important behind the scenes work.

I think it's true for any party. Too much time in power (regardless of side) just leads to stagnation. Lose an election, force a leadership change, force a party to build a platform with an agenda. We're definitely at that point federally.

Look at the post-pandemic recovery of the US vs Canada and I think you see that. Biden is trying hard to do a lot to fend off the Trumpers next election and you see things like the inflation reduction act actually bringing a lot of manufacturing back within their borders and also a lot of investments in infrastructure. Meanwhile Canada seems to just cut cheques for lots of pet projects without really managing to do much useful in the long term. Housing nor immigration is any level of concern for the current government.

Same sorta thing provincially. Whether you support the NDP or not I think it's worth recognizing some of the things they brought to the table were in fact good for the province. Little things like the digital media tax credit were good programs to grow the province and you can see it since the UCP axed it on the first budget as a reaction to wanting to undo everything NDP but now they've started looking to reintroduce it.

Often times both sides can have good ideas to bring to the table.

    China self-immolated.

US Dems are subsidizing green like crazy. It is not sustainable even in the short term. Feds down there are even more bound and determined to stop inflation.

The Liberals like to regulate and incentivize. It's not really helpful since we're in late-stage government. Any additional regulations merely bog down work.

Best NDP idea was to have people come change your lightbulbs.

If they just run to abolish the "carbon tax" you'd think it would be enough to win with how much it costs everyone for ZERO global impact. Except every Government wants more tax revenue.

Well that shows just how much I've tuned out of this dog and pony show and also underscores Buster's assertion about the woes of our world here.

Abolishing the carbon tax means they are called far-right by the media. Next up throwing chinks into furnaces.

In other news, Fitch downgrades US credit rating. Only a matter of time before they sick a junior analyst to downgrade Canada's.

You mean give Torontonians 4 years to forget how bad the Libs were fisting them. Then back to business as usual.

Imagine the shame and embarrassment of being married to that retard let alone having to stand beside him on a world stage. She should settle the papers and then write a tell all memoir.
