Thought we must have discussed this previously, but can't find the thread. We must need a pitbull attack mega thread.

Old lady gets killed by out of control dogs. Dude gets a fine, 1/3 dogs gets put down. Dude can keep the other two dogs and has no other consequences.

I would have thought there'd be some kind of manslaughter charge here, like how if you accidentally kill someone with your car. Apparently since its dogs, it's no biggie?

    This is so fucked.

Please do not just throw around the word "pitbull" as its like calling toilet paper kleenex and is very frustrating to those of us who try to make bully breeds not to get a bad rep.

While some dogs can have behavioral issues it will always fall back to the owner to be responsible and give proper training and care.

It appears the dog owner is not responsible in this case. A bylaw fine.

I wonder if that dead lady's family is "frustrated"?

Not responsible? He is putting down a dog because its the right thing to do. That is no easy choice or decision.

Also when it comes to situations like this there aren't really any laws to determine judgement or proper means of punishment.

When people say pitbull, they actually mean bully breeds. They have a bad rep for a reason - when irresponsible owners train them poorly, they can kill people. As poorly trained as my 11lb Lhasa apso is, he’ll never be capable of killing anyone.

Sure there are. Start with section 236 of the criminal code.

People who want bully breeds to lose the stigma should support harsher penalties for owners, in-line with "vehicular manslaughter" type charges.

What is that, you donate to send a bully to the lethal injection site? Serve justice to all of them for the future attacks they’ll probably carry out? Count me in.

Educate yourself unless you want to continue looking like an uneducated individual when it comes to these types of matters.

IANAL, but is criminal negligence not a thing anymore? Having three very strong dogs requires having a very VERY secure property, which it doesn't sound like was the case here.

Ya if the government doesnt let me have my ar15 then nobody should be allowed to own an assault dog capable of killing the most old people in the shortest amount of time.

    Justice for bullies LOL

"BSL has been proven to be ineffective"

Sure would have been effective in this case. If it saves just one life...

I don't think it's a fair comparison with an AR-15. A "bully breed dog" is probably only about 30% as dangerous as an AR-15. So maybe a more fair comparison is someone who owns 3 "bully breed dogs" and "stores them in an unsafe or insecure manner". ***sarcasm***

And to be clear, I'm NOT advocating for any kind of breed specific legislation here. That's not my point. My point, is that dog owners "get a pass" for being out of control of dangerous property and face no criminal charges when someone is assaulted or killed.

There's shitty owners of all breeds, and I think all those shitty owners should face criminal charges if a human is assaulted or injured by the animal.

EDIT2: OK, the above was somewhat not clear. I'm a bit emotional about the topic, you can probably tell.

It’s always fun when you stumble across a sacred cow that sends someone off the deep end of the internet.

If its not the safety aspect you can argue it from a carbon standpoint. 3 big ass dogs just eating food and pooping and all that food needs to be trrucked in with diesel trucks, unless the food is just wandering around in the back lane.

If i dont get my plastic forks or ice cars in order to save the environment then i expect no less from dog owners. Get an electric dog you climate assassins.
