Provincial election in Manitoba has little relevance for next federal election.
Tell that to all of the Lefties constantly crying about what Doug Ford and the Conservative Premiers out East (when they don't even live in those provinces).

First article was pro NDP Federal.

Third article was negative Conservatives Federal.

    Rest are pro NDP Provincial.

    There's a pattern...

I hate that I am replying to Yolo fuck in any way shape or form but you are so so wrong.

As someone who used to literally abandon wells for a living your $200bn would be correct if all 400,000 wells/ sites in Alberta magically went to the OWA (Orphan well association) which will never happen.

    So cut the hyperbole.

There are very strict liability guidelines in Alberta (now, not historically) to ensure producers are abandoning sites appropriately.

You can go to the OWA website to see what current orphan liabilities are on the books in Alberta.

That VERY REAL figure was from internal documents from Alberta's Energy regulator back in about 2020. The actual number was $260 billion.

It's insane what we've let that industry get away with.

The fraud goes even further. Although only a small percentage of sites have been reclaimed, the province issued reclamation certificates to sites never visited by inspectors! 95% of the issued certificates were never inspected by government inspectors. Further, experts warn some if these sites are so polluted, reclamation is impossible.

I love that anyone takes anything he says as even remotely intelligent in any way whatsoever. Like it's not even intelligent adjacent, and can't even qualify as trolling it's so weak.

If it was leaked, you should be able to find it. Instead of pointless time neg. repping me, find this information you certainly speak of.

Because otherwise, clearly, no one trusts you. Bro.

It was Nov 1st 2018. You’re right, media went wild with that number.

What you missed, however, was the correction the next day.

In case you don’t read further I’ll lay it out for you here.

Several media outlets have reported liability estimates provided by the AER in presentations to industry. We want to apologize for the concern and confusion that this information has caused,” says the AER’s Thursday afternoon press release.

“This particular estimate was created for a presentation to try and hammer home the message to industry that the current liability system needs improvement,” the AER said. “While the message to address liability is important, the numbers were not validated and were based on a hypothetical worst-case scenario. Using these estimates was an error in judgement and one we deeply regret.”

The regulator deeply regrets using the estimates because diligent reporters from the National Observer, The Toronto Star, StarMetro Calgary, and Global News – cooperating in a “joint investigation” for the “Price of Oil” series – got their hands on the presentation and speaking notes using a freedom of information request.
"While the message to address liability is important, the numbers were not validated and were based on a hypothetical worst-case scenario. Using these estimates was an error in judgment and one we deeply regret."

The numbers were similarly dismissed by Alberta Environment Minister Shannon Phillips.

"That figure is a snapshot in time," Phillips told reporters Thursday. "It assumes that all oil and gas activity on the landscape in Alberta would stop tomorrow. That's not the case."
    Modern journalistic quality basically.

People would go on about Clark in BC and Romanouw in Saskatchewan and Rae in Ontario well into the 2000s until they could start bitching about the BC NDP again. Conservatives across the country would also go on about Wynne's Liberals in Ontario. Bitching about governments in places you don't live is a tale as old as Confederation and not bound by party or partisan lines. Nor by national borders, evidently.

So are you good with the number, and just making excuses "but they haven't finished raping our province yet". How is the liability snapshot bigger than our profits snapshot?

There literally is no reclamation plan for most of this, no idea what to do with the trillion litres of tailing ponds, now leaking and contaminating everything.

Clearly you selectively read things that fit your narrative, even on beyond. Maybe you should be a journalist.
