It's like the entire LPC doesn't know how the FB newsfeed works.

Facebook is silly for news since the newsfeed isn't time based. Plus Facebook wasn't scraping news content, people were just sharing link. Either to each other, or the news agencies shared their own links on their own page. In no world did meta steal any revenue from Canadian news, quite the opposite in fact, it drove a substantial amount of their referral traffic. The fact they were included in the bill is laughable.

Google on the other hand is well know for "zero click searches" meaning their goal is to scrape your content and deliver it to a user without you benefitting in anyway. That should be fought to the grave, as it's pure evil to content creators. Pay up or stop.

Twitter is still the best for trending and breaking news.
I think you're underestimating how many people only read headlines and every search/post is essentially zero click these days.

This is why most people just don't go to cbs or civ websites, they don't even know they exist. All the info is curated in their timelines.

Every time I use Reddit I'm reminded of that.

But I'm still not sure than can be equated to Meta stealing revenue, it's just people being lazy

It's not equated to meta or google stealing any revenue whatsoever. Canada just doesn't understand why media is failing, and that we've lost people's attention span long ago.

How many beyond threads have links to things the poster hasn't even read? Most of them, and it's not just the one or two people that pop into your head that do it. It's most of us.

I've read some of them. Usually it's ZenOps not reading the article or somehow having zero reading comprehension.

Who can even quote the links anymore. I put up a news story, my personal opinion, and then try to find a URL that is not blackwalled or paywalled (which is incredibly difficult nowadays)

Unfortunately the ad "free" links tend to be lower quality articles (or heavily biased, or in complete opposition to my stance). The most egregious ones have a video popup, which people on cellular internet will literally hunt you down for linking.

A 4K video can eat up a rural cell cap in a matter of a single minute.

Its not that I don't read the article, its that I have to post something that people will not try to harm me for linking. Post no link at all, and people brush it off as aliens. Post no link and get an academic on your ass - and you will be tagged with taking credit without reference (academic crime way back in the day if you did a direct quote without reference). Noone ever forces you to click the link, in fact - I would personally prefer you just google it yourself if you are interested.

Professors to this day can go on academic probation if they don't prove any references to data at all (Interpretation of the data is something else) Its old habit, but I have considered going back to not linking anything at all, but I'd have to go back to the label of a "copying Chinese guy".

That Dr John Campbell guy is pretty much the only one on Youtube that does media "the proper way" with full source references before he even starts. And then he goes into his own opinion if it differs.

It all went downhill the day that CNN started autoplaying video for front page links, and then put in a commerical, and then autoplayed the next news story, lol.

You are mixing them up with NDP supporters.

LPC supporters have owned the slum houses the NDP supporters live in for a few generations.

Liberals aren’t poors, they are just corrupt.

Right-winger: Rich person that doesn't feel bad about having money.
Left-winger: Rich person that feels bad about having money.
Dipper: Thinks making $15/hr is "livable"

    That's basically the difference.

Laurentian Elites are the last people to feel bad about having money. In fact it's their God-given right as a Canadian who "made this country what it is."

I met a man from Toronto yesterday. He used the term "Upper Canada" 3 times within a simple 5 min superficial conversation.
I didn't have the balls to ask him "is it the 1800's where you are?"

Will post pics of his 48" window stickers later to assert my bad-assedness.
