The corrupt, marxist-heading cesspool that is California - does not learn from history.

Ok. Does make me wonder what a stage 4 would be. I can imagine it would be down to critical systems only water and hospitals?

And the solution isn't solar panels at night?

Most likely, Lake Mead has already been a huge issue for a few years because of the water levels which are currently, 1084
    http://mead.uslakes.info/level.asp

1,075-feet threshold that would trigger a federal shortage declaration and mandatory cuts

^ yea, they have known about the coming issues for decades and have done very little except to line the pockets of their corrupt corporate cronies. A massive solar power and a tesla battery faclity, like in Australia, would have done wonders.

Are they liberals over there or something?

    edit

LOL - speaking of solar power, they have a solar plant where they beam focused solar rays onto a receiver - however this setup is vaporizing birds en masse.

I could be wrong on this, but I believe that it takes exponentionally more energy to cool from 50 Celsius to 20 celsius than it does from 35 celsius to 20 celsius. Reason being: The ambient air that you are cooling into is already hot, so its less equipped to be a thermal sink.

It makes sense to me, if the ambient air is near boiling point, its going to take a crazy amount of energy to cool it to room temperature if the air conditioner is sitting in said boiling air. This is probably why Stage 3 includes "no lower than 28 celsius air-conditioning".

All of sudden, Elon got himself another huge battery market.

But this is basically going green can go wrong when you reallocate funds from maintenance to build out new tech.

Apparently a massive mega Tesla battery plant is (finally) approved (in Feb).

    https://cleantechnica.com/2020/02/27...battery-plant/

Right now California does 20% of their power from solar, which does not help a lot after sundown.

Seems odd to many that in the greatest oil glut, greatest energy glut - ever recorded, that the west coast of the USA would run out of electricity.

That's what happens when you don't want to burn anything.... and record heat.

Also a factor when they outlawed gas appliances in jokes and forced people to convert to electric.

Self imposed harm... There's power available to them but they don't buy carbon based power. Arizona, Utah, Nevada Colorado all have power capacity to supply them...

    But they'd rather blackouts?

    California...

Thing is, even to your average consumer it seems like a really bad idea to run a carbon furnace at millions of degrees every day twenty blocks away - just so that you can get 5 degree cooler air in your own little air bubble.

I really thought LED lightbulbs and efficient appliances would offset. Obviously I was wrong. The allmighty power of the sun always wins.

A true globalist would see the value in producing solar panels in a cold climate and using the waste heat as heat. Then shipping electrical production (said solar panels) to hot climates for the insane peak usage during summer. But that would mean supplanting oil.

Additional: This comes at a time when there are uncontrollable wildfires. As much as one could say that they could put in another natural gas or oil generator, the truth is that they do not have the ability to sustain any of them when fires get out of control. You can't just truck in fuel when there is an out of control fire in the area, its a recipe for disaster. Carbon based electrical production in California is not optimal.

I looked into it for some drilling rigs. That's a perfect application. Remote northern communities too. Powering utility scale power generation in California is not.
