I could be wrong on this, but I believe that it takes exponentionally more energy to cool from 50 Celsius to 20 celsius than it does from 35 celsius to 20 celsius. Reason being: The ambient air that you are cooling into is already hot, so its less equipped to be a thermal sink.

It makes sense to me, if the ambient air is near boiling point, its going to take a crazy amount of energy to cool it to room temperature if the air conditioner is sitting in said boiling air. This is probably why Stage 3 includes "no lower than 28 celsius air-conditioning".

Thing is, even to your average consumer it seems like a really bad idea to run a carbon furnace at millions of degrees every day twenty blocks away - just so that you can get 5 degree cooler air in your own little air bubble.

I really thought LED lightbulbs and efficient appliances would offset. Obviously I was wrong. The allmighty power of the sun always wins.



A true globalist would see the value in producing solar panels in a cold climate and using the waste heat as heat. Then shipping electrical production (said solar panels) to hot climates for the insane peak usage during summer. But that would mean supplanting oil.

Additional: This comes at a time when there are uncontrollable wildfires. As much as one could say that they could put in another natural gas or oil generator, the truth is that they do not have the ability to sustain any of them when fires get out of control. You can't just truck in fuel when there is an out of control fire in the area, its a recipe for disaster. Carbon based electrical production in California is not optimal.

I looked into it for some drilling rigs. That's a perfect application. Remote northern communities too. Powering utility scale power generation in California is not.
