Can someone post an aerial view of that new stretch?

Sorry every road doesn’t lead to Aspen.
Actually this road would make it very easy for the people in the deep south to visit Aspen and see what the good lifes about

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Took the new SW ring road yesterday from Anderson to Westhills/Sarcee and it literally cut my 20 minute drive down to 10 minutes. Can't really complain about that.

A 6-lane divided highway or whatever it is should be 110 not 100 KM/h IMO, but not much else to complain about.

I remember ~20 years ago in University I used to think how fast I would be able to get to class when the SW ring road is done I can't believe it's finally there.

It's fairly useful already. Anyone living in the deep SW could take it to Sarcee and then Bow Trail to get downtown. That should lighten up traffic on Macleod and 14 St. It should save about 10 minutes for anyone heading to Westhills/Signal Hill area or just trying to get to Sarcee.
I’m having a hard time figuring out where you’re talking about? Getting up Sarcee then down bow during rush hour seems counterproductive for any address that isn’t already situated near bow trail.

Was in the office by Mount Royal when my buddy told me the road is opening, and it leads right to my house. I have been waiting for this all my working life at this company, and it's finally here. From underground parking at my office in Mount Royal business park, to the time I parked inside the garage in Evergreen, took me 14 minutes. Would have been faster if a big ass fuel truck didn't break down in one of the two turning lanes onto Fish Creek blvd. Normally it takes me about 24 or so minutes using 14th, so this is very welcome.

Was going to correct this... by why add more volume to the ideal route?

I assume he was talking about woodbine or bridlewood or something. I have no experience commuting to dt from there, just seems like ring rd to Sarcee to bow is really the long way around. 14th and Macleod must be hot garbage if that’s the case.

Pretty sure 14th and Macleod are indeed hot garbage.

Ideally there would be a way to get onto crowchild north. Not practical the way its set up. Maybe richmond road, not sure

I can get to sarcee in 6 minutes on stoney or I can get to anderson and woodpark in about the same amount of time. Sorry aspenites you got some traffic incoming on your commute.

Haha, yeah it will be interesting to see if 14th is better, but they’d have to time the lights for free flow which will never happen... but yes, ring road> Sarcee > Richmond > crowchild > bow

During peak shutdown I had to run DT and without traffic it was sub 15min to 9th and 11th st from woodlands. I have high expectations after that, but that may have not factored in speed limits at all

Indeed, that is what I am talking about. Further south will add more to the RR route when the last leg to 22X opens, even if only for the fact that moving at 100km/h feels more productive than 60-80km/h with traffic lights. Macleod is generally fairly bad and 14th isn't great either, as most head to Crowchild. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out with the bridge construction completed (?) over the Bow, 14th St basically done, and this portion of the RR open.

As was stated, RR to Crowchild would have been ideal for commuting DT. Maybe some will get on Glenmore east to get to Crowchild. Probably faster for some than taking 14th with the lights.

I guess this is the official Stoney trail thread now?

Drove it today, roughly 16 mins between arbour lake and Anderson, assuming no traffic at west hills. So it depends on the time of day. Shaved about 7 mins going to south center so can’t complain.

I thought the whole stretch opened, but it ends at fish creek. What a letdown.

Every time you go south of Glenmore, it's a dissapointment. Entire area is underwhelming.

I’ve already been banned for being a bigot so I’m immune.

To be fair, I was educated in a place that has a Mic Mac Mall

I drove it today on the bike from Anderson to Sarcee and out highway 8. Was super fast. I thought the whole thing to 22x would open as well. I have heard the 22x connection would be open by the end of this year and another report said not til later next year. Anyone heard anything official?

It's set to 100km/h for noise mitigation for adjacent neighborhoods.

You'll have to pester the MLAs for the area (and Ric McIver) to get Alberta Transportation to change it.

October 1, 2021 is the official date. At least that's when the late penalties kick in, so it's likely it would get done earlier.
