My thoughts as well. Let me get to YYC on a train before I have to find a reason to ever go to Edmonton...

Only reason edmonton was for concerts as they skipped calgary so if calgary can get the event center done I will never have to go back to edmonton again lol

I wonder if there is enough airport and bus traffic between the 2 cities to even make this work.

Because I doubt ridership on this is ever any higher than that. Problem is, anytime I am in Edmonton, I need my car while I’m there.

Good news is this is essentially just a data sharing agreement with the province. As long as these guys fully fund their boondoggle themselves I could care less what they do.

Red arrow is $82 one way.

Elon expects LA to SF to cost around $60 USD returned and at 1/6 of the time vs driving (without gridlocks), and that's 2x the distance between Edmonton to Calgary. Even if those cost is going to be double of his estimation, it's still fairly competitive in this landscape against flights and buses.

May be they can make it work to muscle out red arrow. I just don't see Hyperloop will have stops in small town tho, unlike rail, it doesn't have stops

The tax payer boondoggle will come in the way of land claim to build the damn thing and will hang a bunch of construction jobs over our heads to justify it.

Operating cost isn’t going to be the problem with this. Capital and utilization are the big questions.

I don't see this getting the ROI unless both Calgary and Edmonton turns into 10M population mega cities.

LA and SF probably makes a way better case for this.
My thoughts exactly. The prospect of this being feasible here is laughable.

LA to SF makes sense though since lots of people don't own cars there because of the costs. In Alberta every one drives everywhere, so its a hard sell.

Now since Calgary is a major logistic hub, I wonder if there are cases to send 2 -3 cargo pods in between meatbag pods to justify it.

Hyperloop One went under. Good analysis that was more of a conspiracy theory years ago:
