Someone better make a thread is zen 3 preorders start. Also waiting for them to come out. My workstation is going on 6 years now and struggling with CAD some days
haha nope, I'm waiting for a 5900x as well and I'm good to goThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well the AMD announcement is set for 10am today, let see how they do.
3070 review is out trying to drown AMD reveal today. Sounds like matches 2080ti except 8GB VRAM could be limiting. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Haha yeah, funny Nvidia waited until yesterday to lift their review embargo. All planned I am sure.
Nvidia's own slides said the 3070 matched the 2080Ti a long time ago and it looks like it does exactly that +/- single digit performance so that is all as expected.
I think AMDs cards are going to be a lot better than people think with a legit competitor to the 3080. Higher clocks + infinity cache + more VRAM should help make up any difference in memory bandwidth, etc. Probably great rasterization performance and not as good ray tracing performance.
I really wanted to go RTX this time around, but if AMD can get around 85% of a 3080 and most importantly, be available, then I'll continue on with team Red.
Nvidia is almost as shady as Intel with their stock control and price gouging, so I would like to go all team red if possible as well. As long as they are good enough in creative applications I will go that route. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I also don't think supply issues will be nearly as bad as Nvidia, which were likely artificial anyway just like the games the played with the 2080Ti.

If you believe their presentation/graphics it looks like it's equal to a 3080, using a little less power. If stock and pricing is competitive, I think you'll see a ton of people switch.
EDIT: $649 USD for 6800XT, $999 USD for 6900XT (3090 is $1499 if you can find one)

Those numbers are sooooo tempting! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Watch the cat for different holiday hats!
AyyyyyMD!
I wish they would have shown workstation benchmarks too. Ampere is a workstation architecture but nobody knows how RDNA2 compares there.
I think so many people are tired of Nvidia and Intel's bullshit that this should be a very profitable season for AMD. The board partners should be able to get higher clocks out of the cards too.
Nvidia probably knew what AMD had and rushed Ampere out to take an early piece of the pie. 6900XT is $500 USD cheaper than a 3090

6900xt do look sexy, damn. Massive undercut on price if the 6900xt and 3090 do go toe to toe in the real world.

Time for a new thread about the AMD 6000 series announcement
I can eat more hot wings than you.
3070 with 8GB of VRAM is now a pointless purchase, even if 6800 is $80USD more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Hopefully linus can get his hands on one soon so we can have an actual decent review.
6900XT at costing 30% less than 3090? That means I don't need to wait for 3080Ti any more. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Not just Linus, there will be many other reviews as well. If you want to really nerd out, Gamer Nexus goes a lot deeper.
