Is it possible to have a card reader that can remain permanently connected and will recognize an SD or CF card when I re-insert it?
Previously, I would have to take out my external card reader, insert the SD card, and together insert the reader into the USB port and the computer would recognize it completely. However, if I took out the SD card and re-inserted it into the reader (which remained in the USB port), the computer knows 'something' is there but looks like a removable drive. When I click on that it says "insert removable drive".
Recently purchased an internal card reader hoping this would fix the problem (as my laptop works perfectly fine this way) but now it's worse! I have to leave the card in the reader and restart the computer for the card to be fully recognized! Similar issue though with the card re-inserted, I go into Disk Management, it can see 'something' is there and it's the proper storage size as the SD card, but is a RAW partition and not recognized.
USB 2 or 3 it's the same issues.
This doesn't seem like a hard ask but perhaps there is something I'm not understanding. I went into Device Manager and updated every driver possible, nearly everything was already updated. Motherboard is an Asus P8P67 Deluxe running Windows 7.
