    Default What's a ZJ?

If you have to ask big man, you can't afford it.

Bought this 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited earlier this summer, plan is to turbo it this winter. Gonna be a GT35 on its 5.2 V8 at about 10psi. Won't be a monster, but the goal is to beat my bosses Trailblazer SS, or run 13s in the quarter, or trap 100mph in the quarter. Any of those will do.

So far I've converted it to electric fan to make some room in the bay, and done a bunch of maintenance on it. New shocks and brakes and stuff. Already on some motomaster 31s and stock height.

I'm still envious of the condition of those seats. If somebody steals them in the night, it wasn't me.

Which e-fan did you go with, Thunderbird?

Other notes off the top of my head:

    - If you want the 46RH to live behind extra power, at minimum put a shift kit in it. Check pan for snap ring pieces.
    - Similar story for the D35 rear, more power + more tire = ring+pinion smoothie. If you want to beat on it, grab a D44A from a '96-'98 V8 (bolt-in but not great aftermarket support) or a Ford 8.8 if you want to buy and weld bracketry.
    - The stock kegger intake is great for torque but shit for top end power. Utawesome does an intake mod you can copy.
    - Stock alternator was a 90A in that year, a 135A was stock for the '96-'98 V8s and bolts in. Should be better for your e-fan.

Factory service manual can be downloaded free from jeepslimited.com if you figure it'd be useful to you.

He should remove all the seats and sell them to make it lighter for the 1/4 mile.

Ebay 16 incher. It's been on there for a while now, kept it cool even on those 30C days with AC on.

Agreed, stick a lawn chair in there and I'll dispose of those awful heavy seats for him.

I'm actually pretty surprised the eBay unit is doing the job, that's good to hear though. Mine gets a bit warm when wheeling in the heat but I put a new fan clutch in it and it seems to be much better now.

Yeah ZJs are heavy pigs especially when your front seats weight 120lbs a piece

Still have sparklestang, sold M5 in July. Gonna build this jeep and then want to do another BMW, possibly with turbo LS power. I want to match the M5 for half the cost.

I was more amazed at what a fat pig the M5 is when a "big SUV" only weighs 100lbs more.

I'm actually sad to hear that. The M5 was amazing.

$23k lol, it went to Toronto. I was only into it for 25k due to getting it for 10,000 when E39 M5 prices were bottomed out. They started skyrocketing as soon as I bought it basically. So I was able to supercharge it and play with it for 5 years for "free".

Got some brand new 31" Cooper AT3s for the Jeep. Surprisingly good in the snow for a cheap all terrain tire. The Subaru will still be my primary winter driver, but nice to have the jeep at least somewhat capable in snow too.

Installed wideband, boost gauge, and trans temp gauge today. Going to start chipping away at some of the smaller parts of the turbo build before going crazy on it in February ish to have it done for spring.
