Default Emails Not Pulling From Wi-Fi, But Will From LTE 4G Data

My phone just recently started having troubles getting my emails refreshed when I'm on Wi-Fi, both home Wifi and work Wifi network.

Once I flip my Wi-Fi off, and turn on LTE 4G data, I'll have a whack ton of emails pop up that I missed from hours ago.

Phone is OP7, but I don't think its phone related.

No settings have been changed. Wi-Fi works fine as I'm able to browse internet, FB, IG, TikTok, Pornhub, Youtube.

Anyone gurus know whats up? Someone mentioned something about checking my DNS and trying to change it?

    Thanks in advance

Is that a work/business WiFi? I worked at one company that blocked certain domains/activities on their office wifi.

haha, strange as I've seen the opposite in play if someone uses an ISP email account (with improper IMAP/POP or SMTP settings) and then leave the ISP wifi

    - what email client?
    - what domain? (@ gmail.com?)
    - is the WIFI an ISP specific setup (eg . shaw or telus wifi)

My old OP5 had a problem like that. It dislike some wifi for god knows what reason and won't authenticate against Google logins.

    Everything else works.

Work Corporate Wi-Fi. I'll connect to the free customer wifi and see if same issues. But that wouldn't explain my home Wifi though.

Email client is the Outlook, using the OP7 pop email thing. Same with my Gmail account.

    Wifi is Shaw Bluecurve.

Haven't changed any settings on the phone but I'll delete my email and re-do it and see if it fixes. So nothing to do with DNS? Someone said try going through a VPN and if emails pull on Wi-Fi change DNS

Probably nothing to do with DNS. Can you access said emails from your Wi-Fi connected computer?

You dont have to, I have seen cases where the email provider has on their end and fucked things up for clients (eg. shaw, telus).

You still have not mentioned who the email provider is. - edit gmail? did I see that right? You are using POP with a gmail account?

If its gmail, it can act strange on its own. I have seen it disable 'less secure' features that I specifically disabled for functionality.

Try getting a GMAIL app for the phone - this can often fix issues with clients and their settings not working with googles back end connection and security.

No, that was the first thing I thought of, but emails aren't power optimized. Good tip though!

When I set my SGS9 to power management mode, it turns off push notifications and only refreshes email when I load the mail app. I thought this might be happening to you.

That actually happened on my phone previous to the OP7, my HTC One M10, had to talk to Tech Support at HTC and they figured it out

Outlook email address using IMAP, Gmail client/email address but both accounts are connected through the one email program OP uses?

Thats not a gmail client program - you are using the OEM email client.

Please try GMAIL with the GMAIL app (or client as its also known) and see if the problem persists.
