Remember how two years ago Chrysler basically fucked Canada out of $2.6B?

It’ll be interesting to see how they cheated once the settlement is finalized. The Euro one was kinda fucked, vague regulations allowing turning off emissions devices outside temperature window to protect the equipment and still got fined for it. Bild did report that they had similar defeat code to VW that specifically gamed US tests but that wasn’t really confirmed at all.

The details should be available after the settlement is approved.

I'd say our government fucked us out of that money, that bailout never should have happened. And even if never collected the debt shouldn't have been written off, it should have hung there on the books.

Simplistic view I know but, corporate welfare is just as much bullshit as a lot of the other shit.

Government loans to private companies are always a bad idea, and are mostly never paid back. It's proof that the risk is bad.

For whatever reason, the bailout happened. Chrysler has chosen not to honour the bailout.

    Agreed.
Oh I understand that, I still don't think it was right as it provided the opportunity for default. I don't understand why we rolled over and wrote it off. Even symbolically I feel like it should just be kept.

Yea. It's soured me against the brand entirely.

Well, that and the fact that my Cherokee was in the dealer 8 times in under 18 months.

It's to buy 6000 votes from Windsor FCA Assembly plant. We get Caravan Canadian Edition out of it for $25K.

12 years later, 3rd shift is gone and it's down to 4000 jobs and since nobody is buying Pacifica, it's probably not looking good staying at Windsor anyway.

Same shit happened with GM and they cancelled most Canadian made models and move to Mexico anyway.
