So the outcomes are that the investigation comes up with nothing, meaning there's no repercussions for the university and they can continue to say whatever they want. Hell, they can even use it as an example of systemic racism in that even when admitting they're racist, the system can't acknowledge it.

None of this is about anything more than allowing moderates to point and laugh at how stupid and pandering Princeton sounds.

The entire reason for using the term "systemic racism" is because it is unprovable. They used to say institutional racism until people started asking for which institution and which policy.

“They” still say institutional racism. To shake it up “they” also say structural racism. A google search of institutional racism shows everything from editorials to newsletter to news stories from multiple countries, research papers, and more all use it all in 2020, as recently as last week. A pretty wide breadth. So who’s the ‘they’? Either these are the progressives and woke people using it, or it’s the moderates (stagnates?) using it.

BIPOC is very American-centric which is rather exclusionary, more of a moderates term, really.

But I guess what’s a moderate is pretty skewed in an alt-right YouTube video thread.

Not really what you guys are talking about, but I do what I want anyway. Probably been watching too much Star Trek TNG.

I think that if humanity ever gets to a state of abundant cheap/free energy (like some of the greenies claim) then we are already halfway to some kind of socialist utopia. Right now a huge proportion of cost goes towards fuel/power/heat, even with the awesome advances in lowering the cost of hydrocarbons (that I've been working on for my career).

Now, I have a lot of technical thoughts on how and why that's going to be harder than the dreamers think, but I am actually really hoping I'm wrong, because energy improves lives, and free energy enables all sorts of things that improve quality of life.

If we get cheap or free energy, then all of humanity will get richer which is basically how technology works. However, scarcity will just shift to another resource. Universal incentive structures built into humans will just shift to another resource, but they won't disappear. What would that resource be? Depends on how "free" the energy is. Would that be building out electrical infrastructure? Some battery component? Or if the energy source was sufficiently free, then would it shift to water? Land? We're so used to energy being the scarce thing that we forget that there are endless scarce things and our economies will simply shift to the next most scarce thing on the list.

This is what people who speak about wealth inequality neglect to mention or realize: in terms of human history even the poorest amongst us are ridiculously rich.
