VW basically makes twoo platforms I think. A transverse engine mount one, and a longitudinal engine mount one. Everything is built off of one of them.

I can't imagine Bugatti moved the needle substantially on VWAG's financials (although I haven't really looked). It seems the bigger problem with Bugatti is that it there doesn't seem to be a lot of sharing back and forth between Bugatti and the rest of the brands. This doesn't fit VWAG of efficiency in parts/platform sharing.

VWAGs been paying out massive amounts of fines related to diesel gate and it has had a major impact on the balance sheet. Bugatti was an indulgence which was no long in either in favor or affordable, therefore it needed to go. It likely saves them a couple of billion over the next several years. Your right on the parts platform sharing, it also didn't fit with anything else they are doing.
