    Cool thread.

Since this is sort of the official interior thread, and we’re stuck on domestic is lagging to its counter parts - can we discuss 2021 F150 interior?

It’s looking really good. Like it skipped a generation and it’s now smearing poop on RAM. KR, platinum and limited are very nice. The seats are gorgeous.

Even an XLT looks great in pics now. Let’s see real life though.
Still looks like shit to me. Their trucks/SUVs have the shittest aesthetics. You know you're dealing with an uber-conservative market when they still have the fucking car door lock button where it is.

Does a Golf R have an interior of a $50k car or is it basically the same as a $20k base model Golf but with leather?
I think that would be dependent on the quality of interior VW has made in the past, symmetry, flow, and width of trim, but on the other hand, these factors are also not important.

It's funny, I actually am not a fan of the Golf interior. It's basically a mildly updated interior from the mk5 plus a screen, with slightly better consistency in design. mk5 to mk7 was the same shit just cleaned up a bit. It's an econobox interior.

The MK8 tho... that's a different story. About time VW updated that shit.

    MK7 Interior, for reference.

I'm just talking about the center console design. If we want to talk steering wheels, best start a new thread haha.

Mostly, this. Lots of fanboy push-back on the new interior, as they find it too radical. I've had all the R's since '04, except for the slushbox '08.
Well fuck that, it's welcomed. Air Vents have been too high for 20 years. The side view mirror, control knob, is fucking perpendicular to the driver. Happy that's been changed.

But, retaining a volume knob, would've been ideal. For precision adjustments, touchscreens in a moving vehicle are cumbersome. It'll be annoying, when I have to quickly reduce volume, from blasting metal or whatever, to use the slow steering wheel control.

    Here's the new GTi's interior.

Lets not kid ourselves though, the newer interior, with it's media/climate/etc; controls all via touchscreen, will be much cheaper to manufacture.

I think y'all need to have a meet so y'all can compare interiors and continue this debate there.

Hell, Friday evenings at the NW Deerfoot City parking lot - away from the young'uns over at the Walmart parking lot.

Do it, let the real dicks hang out and be swung about - no keyboard warrior crap.

Don’t worry we all know old balls over here wins the cheapest interior award. No ones coming for your participation trophy.

Christ, even Mar is yearning for a meet and this is my sort of second attempt and all you can do is poo poo on the idea?

Hell, my beastly tool hauler wouldnt be allowed and rightly so but y'all needs to meet up - there is a very apparent need.

Or are y'all just afraid of meeting face to face? I honestly do not get the negativity about getting together for a meet - hell, even a few suggestions of such have been good enough for neg rep for me.

A couple of us having doing meets here and there with a very small number of people. Just don't want to be judged by the SJW's at this time so nothing's being organized publicly.

Imagine if there was covid transmission tied back to a beyond event that we organize make it in the media. Would there ever be a field day judging everyone here.

Volvo has the best interior right now imo, mainly the reason why I bought one. Only problem is, they're all the same from a 40K XC40 to a 100K XC90

Okay peeps, pick it apart - 2021 GMC Yukon Denali, lots of leather, some real hand polished wood. Shown at the bottom is the 15" head's up display and although not a part of the dash layout, it is something that does contribute to the usability of the vehicle up front.

The knobs are all cheap, the “metal look” portion of the steering wheel is painfully plastic, steering wheel buttons are very tactless. Seats are hard and pretty uncomfortable for long drives, worse than racing style buckets.

The infotainment screen, while better that it’s not square, is still dreadfully poor quality and have the contrast of a early 2000’s airline seat back tv.

Shift gear is also terrible quality and sticky.

I think that’s a good start. A few pieces of wood do not a quality interior make, also gross who likes wood.
