I got my fitcamx (integrated and powered from the mirror housing) through amazon. Install is fairly easy. It's not the cheapest but I don't want to deal with any wiring. So far as good.

I also have a factory dash cam on a 2023 Merc. The annoying part is that the recording doesn't start automatically and for some reason the dashcam app doesn't show up for a few minutes after I start the car.

Are they pretty easy to install yourself? Current recommendations? Probably long over due in putting some in our vehicles
Its very easy. Its more about how you want to hide the wires.
I got those orange plastic tools to remove bits of the trim. Its pretty easy, I've hidden the wires in there.
The 12v Cigarette lighter is actually in the middle under the armrest. So I wired it into that and under the floormat. Then behind the A-Pillar and across to the dashcam.

The rear camera wiring goes through panels just behind the frame and to the back. There is a plastic square in my CRV that pops out in the trunk. Ive put the rear cam right there.
Ive not hardwired it as I don't need to, I can do it via USB also.

Its not hard to do at all. Just patience over a few hours.

EDIT. If you are doing it yourself. Don't buy those plastic panel removing tools. Just DM me and you are welcome to use mine. Ive not used them since.
I'l post photos later of the wiring.
