So how do all the car people feel on this new thing popping up?

Feels like another noise snare issue to me.

I have been noting and avoiding the check points, don’t want to be hassled about a modified exhaust on a car I barely drive.
good for me, seems they're focusing on noise and RV's, they wont notice my shitbox.

Heard a rumor BC RCMP sometimes scale Rv trailers and check truck specs to see if you are over your ratings. Is that an old wives tale?

I'd be happy if they just nailed clueless people driving at night with their daytime running lights/no rear lights. At least that's a legit safety issue.
So according to the tweet linked in the article they are getting people to pop their hood? I'd be asking to see a warrant first.

You do just that and then report back as to how things went. I wonder why you would opt to antagonize them? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Pop the hood and have them see nothing or act like a smartass and get every fuck you ticket they can find? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

According to the CPS response, her windshield washer was not working - not because of low washer fluid. One of her headlights and one of her taillights wasn't working. She got away with one infraction.
I mean, not surprised they’re lowering the threshold for multinova, gotta do whatever it takes to bring in revenue. I am surprised by a ticket for not having windshield washer fluid. That’s low haha.
For those that missed it it’s in that CBC article.
Edit - mother fucker fake news. Should’ve known better.

Correct but did you also see where they can give you a warning about mud flaps? How many vehicles do those come on or not on for that matter? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I agree that stupid shit that should be noticed bu anyone who pays attention to their car should know, but if they are going to get nit picky or make weird judgement calls.. I have issues with that.
You only need mudflaps if the top 1/2 of the tire isn’t covered by the fender. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Passenger cars are exempt. The issue is that a lot of trucks roll off the lot without mud flaps and they need them in the rear for sure and I’m 80% sure the letter of the law says behind the front tires too. I guess the question is should a dealer take responsibility for sending a non-compliant vehicle off the lot or should people know the requirements of the vehicle they drive? I mean, the dealer will even tint your windows and everyone knows that’s illegal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah exactly. I have never had a cop want to search my car but I feel like I wouldn't be comfortable with it, even with nothing to hide.
Rage - what did they lower the threshold to?

I got 4 tickets. They ranged from 10-13 over. Some in hidden spots, some clearly not hiding based on the photos so I suspect they have a camera vehicle I haven’t seen before. I’m slamming the brakes for everything now Tesla style. Can’t be safe lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

So on my truck which has a factory 2" body lift if I had factory mudflaps on the truck they would not cover 1/2 the tire as it should. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Who should be the diligent one? As Fraser said is this on the driver or dealership?
When it comes to things like this so much is left up to interpretation of the inspector.
As long as they stick to the SE/NE and tag the crazy modified ricers sure - but thats not how it works. Traffic guys are ruthless.
But the washer fluid ticket could have been a 'you didnt know when to shut up' ticket.
They set up last weekend over Crowchild on 17th and I was impressed with how much quieter it got that night. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
