Default ExtraSlow"s 2020 F150 - He got off his wallet

You folks know how I've been grinding it out with older trucks for the last, well, forever it feels like. Well I bought a brand new truck this week, and I'm excited as hell. It may be pretty ordinary to some of you, but this is a) the only new vehicle I've ever bought "for myself" and not for the family, and b) the most expensive vehicle my family has ever purchased.

    So here she is:
    Name: IMG_20200922_140119022_HDR.jpg
Views: 610
Size: 102.7 KB

Specs: 2020 F150 SuperCrew 4x4. 145" Wheelbase (5.5' bed), XLT 302A trim, Max Tow, bigass towing mirrors, Sport and FX4 packages, magnetic paint, 20" wheels, and no sunroof.

All specs chosen that way to get the best truck for towing my camping trailer while still being easy to live with around town. Has the 7000 lbs GVWR package, and 1733 Lbs payload. Only way to get higher is to get the 157" WB AND downgrade to the 301A or lower trim, plus add the Heavy Payload Package, and that was a compromise I wasn't happy with.

Employee Pricing plus a $750 private cash offer from Ford made the cost manageable. Even got a referral from a fine beyond.ca member who will owe me a few bucks when his cheque arrives. This was a tough year for finding unique trucks, since covid had the factory shut down for ~2 months, but sales have been higher than normal. Most trucks have been selling before they land at the dealership, and this one was no execption. I had my deposit down before it was even on the assembly line.

Anywhoo, I'll be blasting other threads too, but thought I'd like to keep my own documentation of this truck in a single thread for future reference.

I'll swap that thing off soon. Need to decide if a different plate goes on, or if I'm removing the entire plate holder.

I told my salesman last year if the truck showed up with a drilled bumper I wouldn’t take delivery lol.

This was a particular problem because my truck was originally destined for Kamloops.

Well, it's the most controversial choice I made. The win for me is 1) saving $1750 and 2) saving ~150lbs that goes straight to payload.

God damn you and your rational thought. It's still a nice truck!

Nice truck, I like the colour. I had the same issue when I was looking for a new vehicle. It's like everyone who had a trip planned this year took the money and bought a new vehicle. Most dealerships were really low on stock for the popular models.

Yeah, covid shut down the before-and-after care for my kids for three months in the spring, and that saved me enough to get me thinking . . . . Other folks must have the same idea, since Cam Clark is setting records this year for Sales volume.

Congrats, ExtraSlow! I would have opted out of the sunroof too. It's never been a highly desirable option for me.

    Nice!

    Suggested mods Forscan:

    1. Turn off the double honk.
    2. Bambi mode (fogs with high beams).

I treat purchases like this as if I'm buying the whole thing in cash. I'm not, but I like think like I am. So bringing an extra $1750 with me that day would have felt stupid. Even if there wasn't a payload penalty.
