Standard mobo screws are #6–32 x 3/16″ or M3 flat head. It should be in your manual somewhere, but some manuals are pretty bad haha. Usually there are standoff screws you need to screw into the case first, then your mobo screws into those and not directly into the case - that may be causing you some confusion.

#1 most common mistake is not putting on the I/O shield before installing the mobo, and it's super annoying to fix. Some mobos now come with a fixed I/O shield but it's not super common.
Yup I realized the I/O Sheild after, god there was so many little small fucken annoying things.

As happy as I am to build a PC myself I do not believe I will be doing it again. But thanks for the help!

I still need to fix one of the fans so I can finish installing Windows on the PC..

Not sure where it's gone wrong though, but really least of my worries right now hahaa.

Bump. Lets try this again. Life went downhill during the first post back in 2020.
Some kind fellow threw this together online for me. My budget was around $1400.

    CPU Intel Core i5-12400F 2.5 GHz 6-Core Processor $244.98 @ Newegg Canada
    Motherboard Gigabyte B660M DS3H DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard $179.98 @ Newegg Canada
    Memory Silicon Power XPOWER Turbine 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory $141.99 @ Amazon Canada
Storage ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $59.99 @ Amazon Canada
Storage Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $54.99 @ Canada Computers
Video Card MSI GeForce RTX 3050 8GB 8 GB VENTUS 2X OC Video Card $509.99 @ Memory Express
Case Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 3.1 MicroATX Mid Tower Case $59.99 @ Amazon Canada
Power Supply SeaSonic FOCUS Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply $59.99 @ Amazon Canada
Operating System Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM 64-bit $124.25 @ Vuugo
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
    Total $1436.15

Could I get a second opinion on the CPU (Intel or AMD..), Motherboard and Graphics card? I have not got a clue.
Do I go with a MSI Z690 Motherboard?
Reviews online don't seem favourable for the RTX 3050 8GB Graphics card. Looking at the EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB SC ULTRA GAMING Video Card. Prices have gone all Pete tong and doubled. Meh. Sign of the times I guess.
Budget was around $1400-$1600 ish. I can push it if needed.

I tried to rebuid it on part picker and the cost bumped up to $1700. So fuck it, I thoght I'd round off the number. I ditched the 12400F and went for the 12600 Ten cores. I upped the motherboard to Z690.

    PCPartPicker Part List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QLyQVw

    CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor ($343.25 @ Vuugo)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool GAMMAXX 400 Blue 74.34 CFM CPU Cooler ($42.99 @ Amazon Canada)
    Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($276.50 @ Vuugo)
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($157.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Western Digital WD_BLACK SN750 SE 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($129.99 @ Canada Computers)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB SC ULTRA GAMING Video Card ($623.76 @ Amazon Canada)
Case: NZXT H710 ATX Mid Tower Case ($159.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Power Supply: Cooler Master V Gold V2 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($74.98 @ Amazon Canada)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11 Home OEM 64-bit ($124.25 @ Vuugo)
    Total: $1933.69
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Do I need to order fans or cables? Or do I just order the above and put it together like lego? I want to put this order in by the end of the week.
Undecided if I should order seperatly from Amazon/online or go to Memory Express/Newegg and get a comparable spec. Thoughts?

For the price you listed for the 1660 super, I would recommend trying your luck to pick up a 3060 from memory express.

Here's a cheaper 1660 super in stock at memory express: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX79540

As much as pre-builts are gross, that's probably better value than what you can build now. A 3060ti will run circles around any 1660. Only grievance is the 16gb of ram but don't upgrade it through dell. Just get the PC then at some point down the road buy another 16gb of appropriate speed ram and add it in. It'll have 2 empty slots.

Power supply is probably quite limited in what you can add besides form factor. Heatsink and such may be custom design that you can't swap out. You buy it, you use it, then buy a new one.

Truth be told, unless you are a gamer that always tinkering for the latest top end stuff, you can't pretty much leave it alone for 3-4 year at a time. Then everything else has to come out anyway.

Seriously, other than case and power supply, I don't think I have kept anything longer than 5 years.

Yeah. As much as prebuilts are a pain to upgrade, truth be told you'd replace most of that oem shit anyways if you do want to upgrade. Mobo probably won't accept new chips in 3-4 years since DDR5 is starting to be a thing. So your custom build or your prebuilt will both need a mobo swap. PSU would be the only limit however things also aren't as power hungry nowadays as they've been in the past. If you swap a 3060ti for a 6060ti or whatever the fuck the future equivalent is, it probably will take the same amount of power anyways.
