    Nice mustang.

It would be a better car if it had a mustang body

    That’s a good idea.

It was a buck toothed kids photo, comparing to that grill.

Chip Foose, draws out a design fix for the buck teeth, that seems reasonably easy enough.

Design boss Domagoi Dukec explains that the oversized kidney grille was created for customers that want to stand out. In short, if you don’t like, you weren’t among BMW’s targeted customers anyway.

I think this was posted somewhere else earlier, but this jumps out at me: "Not all our products get the same critics. You can see that on something as polarizing like the kidneys on the 4 Series, 20 percent of people are liking it. That fits to the type of customers we are targeting."

If only 20% of the people like it, how many of those will actually buy it? Hopefully sales tank and they are forced into a facelift sooner than later.

BMW is basically GM now. A few (a couple?) of interesting non-ugly cars sprinkled in among a bunch of irrelevance.

M3/M5 used to be aspirational because they were cool. Now all they have is that they are fast. No cool to be found.

Agreed, used to aspire to own a M3 and M5 when I was younger and now I aspire to own the same M3 and M5 and nothing newer from them.

If people hate massive grilles so much, I guess Lexus is bankrupt and has been for about 5 years? Soon to be bankrupt are: Audi, Hyundai, BMW, and GMC?
This feels like the debate on "flappy paddle gearboxes" which feels like the debate on Nickelback. Everyone on earth will tell you "I fuckin hate them" but they sell out stadium tours.
    Apparently, people are buying this.

Size isn’t everything, as for the ”people are buying them” argument, when’s the last time new M3’s were just sitting on the lot this close to launch.

I would imagine these are not selling nearly as well as the accountants would like.

Yep they’ve had a M3 and a M4 sitting at CBMW for weeks now unsold.

The rear quarter panel behind the back doors will get obliterated with rocks and sand. No amount of 3M will save it.

And even worse, once you see how incomplete that design language is you cannot unsee it. Create a new rear door for the M3 to help integrate the wider fenders? Nah, save money and just slap it together with the standard rear door.

It's not that bad. I drove an M2 in a couple of winters and film holds up well there just as it does with any car that has rear fender flares. You just have to replace the film more often if you want it to look good when clean.

Blah blah blah. The F80 had the same thing from using the standard 3 series rear doors.
