One pick from each team. No more, no less.

Well, there you go. I guess that's a simple and reasonably fair way of handling it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I personally hope they choose just as many cheap players as possible and really extract a huge price from every team trying to shed salary. That will be hilarious.

Good riddance.

Fantastic asset management by Tre.
Smartest man in the room!
Kraken get Larsson for 4x4. Solid deal for them.
Frees up cap space to go after Eichel. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Moving on from Gio's cap hit is good news, if they're able to utilize it elsewhere.
Moving on from Gio's minutes is not good news. Guess we get to see if Hanafin is ready to take a step and become a full time 1/2 defensemen. Flames will struggle without Gio for sure.
Also losing Gio for nothing is pretty poor asset management by Treliving. Considering the level of players picked off 90% of the teams (ie: B/C level prospects that will never pan out or depth dmen) the player selected from Calgary is near the top of the value list IMO.
Also sounds like Seattle is flipping Gio to the Rangers.... to play with Fox... double kick to the nuts right there.
FML. What a fucking failure to lose your captain. For absolutely nothing. Fucking fire Tre
of those protected, who would you rather have put on the unprotected list and kept Gio?
Backlund, Dube, Gaudreau, Lindholm, Mangiapane, Monahan, Tkachuk
Andersson, Hanifin, Tanev
Markstrom
Sig nuked by mod.
I would have let Gaudreau go all day long. Can we send both him and Gio to Seattle?

Isn’t the whole point of expansion draft that you lose one asset for nothing? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Trading Gio last year before the trade deadline would have been better, but this isn't awful. Gio is an amazing human, but we can take that money and get 2 good and one league minimum guys that will eat the minutes. Seattle is going to flip him anyway.

Love Gio.
But letting him go was best.
38 years old, $6.75 mil....
Rather lose him than Mangiapane.
Tre sucks, and the Flames are going to be average in the short, medium, and long term.
Call me when they bring something interesting to the table, until then...hockey has largely become a snooze-fest.
Looking at the expansion roster. Gio is one of the top players they've drafted. That's bad asset management. Since you can see it from a mile away and plan for it. I hate to say it, but look at what Toronto was able to do and basically lost someone for nothing. Or even Edmonton. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

That's not the point. The point is to have your roster ready so you don't lose anyone have value or have a plan in place to protect who you need. Tre did none of that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Agree, should have been trading Gio in-season last year. Could have gotten picks that would not have needed protection, and given playing time to youngsters who . . .wouldn't have needed protection. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Agree to disagree, but every GM was in the same boat, and there weren't many teams able to take on a 38 year old D man making nearly $6.75 mil. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Cap space is king the last couple years.
