Apparently the christmas tree shortage is going to be even worse this year:

I think a permit is still only $5 from AEP and that gets you up to 3 trees from designated harvesting areas. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Thanks for reminding me to set up. Took forever
Have you tried shooting at them from a distance with an airsoft? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Agree with the earlier poster that $900 is insane. I think a $900 msrp tree for 64% off is still a bit high, but getting closer to reasonable if you prefer a fake tree like I do.
Cutting your own with a $5 permit is a great family activity and I think a good way to get kids outdoors in the winter.

Gluckstein Lawrence = bought!
It's not exquisite, but it's quite nice and $170 is a great deal. Only two left at S Centre Bay.
Thanks @ExtraSlow !
I'm off to a double meat lunch with these $savings$

We've been doing this for a while now and its a great activity. The trees are never great quality and often very Charlie Brown-esq but getting out for the morning with the wife and kids is great for the cost of the $5 permit and timmies. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. We bought one of these a few years ago, ceiling height isn't an issue as we have 17ft ceilings were the tree goes, but the base is fucking huge. End up only using 3/5 sections of the tree and still get it up to around 9ft. Fucker is heavy though bringing it up the stairs from the basement. Next house we buy one of the requirements will be the ability to set up the full tree.

You can usually get the trees 50% after Christmas so maybe get a real one and just buy one of these after the fact.
Ops...
Good point .. We haven't set up Christmas tree for 10 year or so, usually not in Calgary during December *_*
Probably will have to set up for the kids!
I know Christmas Trees are that expensive! My parents in Hong Kong always set up "real" Christmas tree ... like $1,000, and will cost extra money to set up and throw away, big hassle .. I am fine with plastic one :P
The Original !

I picked up the one that was 169.99 in the pic, received it today as I had it shipped, I'm returning it tomorrow it's no better than a $50 fake tree you can get from CT/Walmart, if anyone actually paid full price for it, oh man they must be pissed, there's more filler than actual decorative branches not to mention bald/empty spots even after 'fluffing' itThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Yeah I went to the Bay to check them out in person
I was amazed at how shitty they were for the price. Even the sale price was too much for those things.
Costco (Crossiron) has a good 7.5' pre-lit for $350, it's got tons of tips but is very plasticy feeling (and looking).
Greengate has some nice ones that look good, but they're expensive. We're going tomorrow to get the un-lit one that's $450. I don't want pre-lit, I'd rather hang the lights myself.
