Statscan population numbers are out. Calgary and area leading the way once again growing 6% or 100,000 people over the past year. Hard to think housing can do anything except continue to skyrocket.

Calgary population surges by staggering 6%, Edmonton by 4.2% in latest StatsCan estimates | CBC News

    Oh ya baby
We gonna have the biggest increase in millionaires lfg!!

    1.1 is less than 1.2 - that's affordability!
lol, my cousin said f it and bought in Langley for $1.4M. The couple he bought it from is retiring, cashing out and moving to Airdrie. Bought a place for $800K, and got extra $600K to retire on. Old people don't care about Cactus club.

We are slowly being infiltrated by Liberals.
This was the plan all along to drive people to the conservative mecca's to dilute the voting pool.

That’s always been how it works. Liberals wreck the places they live then flee to conservative strongholds and wreck them next.

    Old as time.

I think you meant NDP. BC Liberals are considered conservatives.

The bigger problem is a bunch of them like this example are going on fixed income, add 0 productivity to the province and will use up more medical resources. That's MY job!

Fucking hell I don't want my tax dollars going to this. Fix the goddamn potholes!

Calgary could offer residents upward of $10K as secondary suite incentive
The program is expected to net up to 3,000 new suites in its first year

That should be the first sign immigrants see at airports.

I am sure there was incentive before to do legal suites back in the 2010s. I remember they were paying $10k but back then a suite can be done for $40k.

Fast forward to today, a suite is easily $70k+. $10k ain’t going to do shit to incentivize anyone.

And your prop tax will also increase accordingly so the city will recover that $10k in 10 years or less.

You consider that money in the bank? You have to sell it first, no?

I don’t but some people do. And most still owe the bank a ton too.

If everyone is a millionaire, that means nobody is.

It’s never about how much you have, it about how much more you have than average.

Yeah this seems like good value for the city. Feds cough up a good chunk of the cash and the city recoups it on the property taxes over time as well.
