    Default Money from an American

I have a guy who is moving from America and is going to rent my condo. What are some options for him to pay me. E-Transfer doesn't seem to be a n across border thing. Western Union seems like it's going to cost $40. Any advice?

He's moving here? He should get a local bank account and use e-transfer from that. He'll need a local account for other reasons anyway.

I'm way less "me" than people give me discredit for.

Ya, moving here. He plans on getting one set up when he arrives, but between now and then, I want my money and he want to secure accommodations well in advance.

Wire transfer. Might be able to do it online, might need a branch. Just needs a void cheque from you essentially

    Or PayPal

Friend in Texas said PayPal. I'll look at what that takes. Hope to get some of that sweet, sweet USD cash money

PayPal charges a percentage for each transfer to the sender when funds are sent as 'friends and family'. If the funds are sent as 'payment for goods', then it charges the same percentage to the recipient of the money.

Wise.com is the cheapest option for both parties. I sold a car to the states last year and payment was EZPZ through Wise.

Moneygram seems pretty cheap - according to their site it's $2USD to send $2000CAD.

Is he going to overpay you "by accident"?
Tread cautiously, sounds scammy or he's airBnB'ing for Stampede.

No it was the Benz. I also recently purchased some parts online with Wise via wire transfer. They got the money instantly. Pretty seamless process

Deposit for rent isn't that risky from an American, not sure why you guys are all so sketched out. Arctic isn't sending him anything so how would he get scammed if it's a fake payment (aside from it being a phishing email or overpay and demand money back which obviously just ignore). When the dude shows up in Canada then do cash or cheques from his CAD account after that.
