busy street. Basically paliiser. Kinda like lower "Mt Royal." Basically on the wrong side of the tracks.

Nice house. Sometimes being on a busier street is fun for being in the action. I believe 19th is a single lane, not double so at least it's not too busy. Didn't realize that side of the street was Pump Hill as you mentioned. I always thought it was Palliser.

I guess that would mean you are on the right side of the tracks. haha. 19th might be single lane, but it is the feeder. The property taxes likely have a note about it.

I get the "as is" title means the inside is a disaster but WHYYYY is it a disaster? Horders? Someone turn the power off and everything froze? Tell me more!

That's what I'm wondering! No interior photos.

That far south on 19th isn’t too bad, mostly just school traffic till you get north of palliser dr

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Judging by Google streetview (and history), I'm going to guess it was an elderly person who lived in squalor until they died, and it took awhile for anyone to realize it.

This was the case in the property I purchased to build my current home. I was curious and wanted to have a look inside and to say it was rough is a significant understatement. Can't imagine someone living like that. I was inside for about 20 minutes lookin' around, but no joke I had to leave my jacket in the garage to air out afterward for two days. Felt bad for the labourers that had empty most of it out so we could gain access to asbestos remediate before demo.

Curious if anyone knows what the rules are for building near a power line? If I wanted to build a garage suite and the power lines are on my side of the alley I’m assuming there’s a required setback? 3 or 5 meters? Or is it just a no go all together

Depends on the voltage but you're more than likely at a 3 m minimum.

Drive through my neighborhood, lines are directly over the garages.

This would over the garage though so not sure if there’s different rules being horizontal to the lines. Would be aiming for 800sqft garage and similar size secondary suite on top.

I’d presume these are lower voltage lines as our street doesn’t connect to anything on the other end.

I keep seeing news on Germany housing collapse.
Yet they're nowhere near what Canada's bubble is sitting at. I don't think anyone's housing bubble has hit Canada levels, ever.

I think a significant difference there is population growth.

From 2000 to 2023 Germany grew from 81 million to 83 million. Canada grew from 30 million to 40 million in the same time frame. Half the size but five times the growth. Canada will crash when demand falls off but our government seems dead set on grow as fast as possible.
