I dont get it... how is it taking advantage of the GM?

Rumor has it he'd also consider coaching in Chicago, which would make him more money....
I'm quite certain he isnt in it for the money. If you see where he lives and what he drives etc.
His one child requires a lot of care.

Regardless, he's not one to give someone a deal just because. Tre's way out of his element and Sutter took full advantage. Keep in mind Sutter hasn't really done anything in the NHL since 2017.

Yeah, watch the presser and the interview after that. This has nothing to do with money. He's still bitter about the game 7 loss so this is personal for him. He wanted to win that cup for the ownership at the time and most of them are now gone so he feels like he let a lot of people down.
Sutter: "We have unfinished business here"

Fuck me! I'm all in again boys. Go Flames. Gonna hammer some $$'s down on the Flames right now. #homer

Sutter will never be a GM again.

    A) He wasn't good at it.
    B) The business is far too complicated now for someone to be a coach and GM of a team.
    C) No way he wants to dedicated that much of his time and energy to both roles.

I still dont get it... his ONE child will get millions from him regardless. You dont think that's enough ... lol?

There are other coaches out there who are just as qualified, It's not like Tre is forced to hire him by any means. It does serve a mutual benefit, but that doesn't mean Sutter has taken advantage of Tre to sign a three year contract.

I mean you do realize a three year deal is the best a coach can get. The team's a total mess, Tre just hired a guy that hasn't coached in four years and why is he getting three years again?

Settle down TM. He can be in it for more than one reason. Him getting paid isn't a negative to me in this situation at all.

He's a seasoned coach, more than 50% of current NHL Coach contracts are 3 years or longer. A one year deal doesn't prove anything so it's not like his contract is longer than the norm.

You guys make it sound like Tre is forced to hire him and give him all the money in the world. Yes I'm sure he'd get paid what he's worth but you guys want to think that he's in it to just make a quick buck? I just dont get it.

You are reading a lot into my comments that I didn't intend. I guess I was unclear. Oh well.

No, he's making Tre pay. Because he can. That's Daryl for ya.

I like the Sutter change. Now all they have to do is get rid of the rest of the garbage like Gaudreau and Monahan (IMHO) and I will probably enjoy watching Flames hockey again.

Good plan. Without Gaudreau or Monahan it would take away all delusion and confirm that the flames are complete garbage with no talent or prospects.

We could even change our name to the Canucks.

We cant improve on what we have if we trade what we have.

Well you'd hope a trade would improve the team rather than make it worse. I keep reading rumors of a Gaudreau trade, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. If he doesn't get traded I bet he doesn't resign with the Flames when he's a UFA at the end of the season.

Gadreau trade is easy. Easy to lose in terms of losing the better player. But we haven't done anything with him, so maybe that's a long term win. Trade him for picks and maybe we'll be good in five years? Same with Monahan. You aren't getting someone better back, best case is someone who fits better despite being less skilled. Or picks.

If we want to tear down, we have assets that would be worth picks. Although some teams may be reluctant to acquire assets they can't protect in the expansion draft.

That was probably one of the best first periods of hockey I’ve seen in a long time. Not just by the flames, I mean in general. Holy shit.
