The interior alone (this is top level trim) on the Dodge will win many people over.

That looks cheap and unrefined, console, knobs, finishings, all look and feel cheap. Did they pull that interior straight out of an old D-150?

Yea. All that plus it’s a Chrysler.

I can't even tell if revelations is serious. I'll just say again, buy the interior you like, but also, don't imagine others will agree with you.

Im certainly no expert on trucks and interiors, and my interior experience is limited to older Dodges, Fords, Chevys - but what other interior in a pickup truck would be considered above this?

I found the only Ford with a better interior than mine.

Less interior is always more interior

Like ExtraSlow said, brand loyaty is huge in pickups. I've owned them all and buy/sell pickups as my crazy career choice. I read 100's of condition reports and mechanical declarations at auctions every week, get to see the trends in what breaks on what brands. For me, when it came time for a brand new one it was a new GMC with a 6.2 hands down. If I had to pick between the Ram and Ford I'd take the Ram. Yes, watch out for cam/lifter problems on the Hemi. Warm it up good and take a listen, no tap-tap-tap (listen to the front wheelwells) is good, a tick-tick-tick for a few seconds cold is pretty normal exhaust manifold leaks for Rams. The Rams also seem to need front end work sooner and the big screen in the dash has a habit of going on the fritz. Can't fault the 8 speed, its pretty bombproof.

Ford ecoboosts just seem to be 70% bad 30% good as they age. Oil leaks are rampant and the aforementioned cam phaser/timing chain noise. Turbo failure is another but to Fords credit they're not terribly expensive to replace. Every time I drive a Ford of this generation they just don't feel as tight as Ram/GM structurally (especially the extened cabs whose doors wiggle over every bump). Can't say they don't drive nice and have a well appointed interior, theres alot to like there. Also experienced may 6 speed Fords with terrible shift quality (since your after a newer one you'll have the 10sp anyway).

If reliability is the only concern just buy a Tundra.

Thanks for this. I wasn't even considering looking at the GMC but I will test drive one to see how I like it. Would you say the 5.3 would be just as reliable as the 6.2 or is it 6.2 or nothing? I've never looked into these.

Looks like I should have made this a poll hahah. Lots of different opinions on ford vs dodge but I guess it's all relative to who you ask. Of the people that have owned both it seems like the ram is more preferred from what I'm reading.

Any thoughts on the ecodiesel rams? Not likely that is buy one but moreso just curious about their reliability/performance

There is very little mechanical difference between the 5.3 and 6.2 engines.

But choosing a 5.3 over the 6.2 will deeply hurt your soul.

NO ecodiesel. They've had a very well documented history of serious problems.

I could be wrong but I thought the 5.3 over the years had cylinder deactivation while the 6.0 and 6.2 did not? I would choose any standard v8 over one with cylinder deactivation anyday. I believe the way gm did it, long term you fuck up your lifters?

Anecdotally, see how many 2002-2007 gmc/chevs you still see on the road vs the number of fords... I think the timing chain tensioners and cam phasers have killed off most of em.

I would personally go with ford over dodge as my mechanic buddy hates dodge and notes that they eat front ends and fca is a piece of shit company
