like what others have said though, so stupid that Calgary MemEx still wants people to line up when you could just order them online and arrange pickup instead.

Yeah, they came through and cut off the line and said Nvidia isn't accepting back orders so no point waiting. Sad but oh well. Another day

I don't mind selling in person as that at least limits how many people can scoop. Online if it goes live at 3am you can have one person with multiple cards grab a bunch to scalp.

About 20 people so far? People waiting in their cars, I walked right up to line up at the door in front of the store, don’t think people liked that, if you’re going to line up then line up

Unless you're desperate to complete a build or something, I would wait until early 2021 to buy a GPU. Stock is terrible, MemoryExpress is a nightmare to deal with, sales are final, prices are inflated, board partners are delivering rushed designs, and in Nvidia's case there are rumors 2021 production (or some of it) will move to TSMC's superior 7nm node. If at all possible I'd wait for the dust to settle.

In my case a 5700XT would probably do the trick so a 3060Ti for an extra $100 is a pretty good buy.

I over the last couple days and it didnt seem like they were accepting calls

I did an online order last week from Memex for pickup in South. CPU Mobo Cooler and RAM. It was processed that day and ready to pick up.
Much better than my last online order during the first Covid limits.

Did they even get any? NW showed 20 online and had papers to hand out to allocate them. By 1015 they were all sold and wrapped up.

They sure did, managed to snag one. I asked how many they got but the guy wouldn't tell me. They only had two types, both MSI's I think, a dual fan and this one.

MemEx NE responded to my email at 10:30 saying they received 6 3060Ti in stock but couldnt put them on hold.
when I got in 20min after, one of the sales guy told me they were gone.

the crazy thing is that MemEx will not do further pre-ordering anymore. so everyone is stuck waiting for them to be in stock and rush/lineup in store.

Yeah NW was the same too, no backorders but it makes sense. I talked to them about the 3070's and he said they're receiving them pretty frequently now but they have such a long backorder it's still chewing through that.

I agree with this sentiment. I've never been an early adopter.

People are so desperate to get a PS5 that they'll pay 2x-3x for instant gratification.

Same shenanigans happened when the Wii first came out.

The SE location still shows 10+ for the MSI 3060 Trio and 8 for the Dual version. They even have some 3070s in stock right now, might be worth the drive if you really need one. Also, can't you just choose in store pick up at check out? I did that with a monitor that was on sale last week.

Edit: There's already a couple of 3060s on kijiji

The online stock is slow to update. Sometimes a hour behind. It's all sold out now.

Yep, saw that a few minutes ago. Edited my post from earlier.

I think this launch was slightly better than the 3070/80/90. Looks like there was a bit more stock this time around, even if it sold out fast. Reading some of the posts online, places in the States and Europe actually had cards on hand vs. the previous launches.

I hope nobody is dumb enough to buy these for double the price, especially since it's not even that good of a GPU all things considered. It's about as a good as a 2080 or 1080Ti, and you can buy a 2080 Super on Kijiji right now for about $500, which is less than the 3060Ti MSRP.

In my view anyway, I don't understand the rush to get anything other than a 3080 or higher, because the 3070 and lower is all roughly matched by prior-gen cards that can be had for similar or less money.

Cheapest 2080 Super (non-founders edition) I've seen on Kijiji is $550, for $100 more getting a card that outperforms it and is brand new seems like a decent buy
