Nice. I use a 55" C1 as a monitor. It's pretty great but the auto-dimming drives me crazy somedays.
It’s the ABL protecting the TV. OLED can’t stay bright for that long, especially on static images, without damaging it. Only 1 way around it…

ABL is still problematic, unless you lower the brightness considerably and use a pure black background, dark mode, etc. It works well if you like working in the dark.
It’s like the secret flaw that nobody talks about, especially gamers. Some games are fucking brutal at triggering ABL.

I find it happens just at super random times. Like, I'm typing this comment on the beyond.ca webpage and its slowly dimming as I type. And then I switch to Reddit (dark mode) and the same exact thing happens. Playing Humankind, no dimming at all. Play Flight Sim, and it dims on certain camera angles.

I agree it's not talked about a lot. I had to google what exactly was happening. I see a few threads have been made and the only way to get around it is to buy the service remote and disable ABL.

And now my screen just snapped back to full brightness just now. Just so random.

The good thing is that with this TV, the good far outweigh the bad.

The inconsistent and completely random brightness changes are a show stopper for me.

You can’t fully disable ABL. Like I said setting the tv very dim and at least it won’t change.

Well DDR5 is officially on the market now along with the Alder Lake CPUs being released.

    12900k - 24 threads / 16 core @ 3.2ghz (5.2ghz boost) on performance cores and 3.9ghz on the efficiency cores. PCIe 5.0 and support for DDR-4800.

    https://www.extremetech.com/computin...core-i9-12900k

Kingston Fury Beast sticks come in 4800mhz and 5200mhz speeds at 16gb per stick. CL38 latency though

Yep, looks interesting. Will bait for wenchmarks, but on the surface they at least look competitive.

Memory express has pre-order up now for the processors, some asus mobos and some 32gb ram kits. One thing to watch out for is that not all of the motherboards will support DDR5. The current ones listed do though.

This is a nice but pricey mobo https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum...bon-ek-x-d-rgb

Hi all, looking for some input from fellow PC enthusiasts. I am currently using a Dell Alienware AW3418DW as my main monitor and an old 24" as a secondary. I am looking to make a change to either two flat screen 27" monitors (thinking either MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD or LG 27GP850-B) or a single high end 27" (Asus ROG Swift PG279QM) and keep my old 24" as as secondary. Not sure if I see the value in a single 240 hz monitor? Open to other suggestions as well. Monitor use is mixed between work and some gaming.
I ran the same Alienware 34" for a few years too. I've got the Asus PG27UQ 4k 144hz/etc 27" and a new 34" as well as my primary. If you can get the LG you mentioned, do that, but they can be tough to find in stock. That's what I'd run in your position right now, two of those, they are excellent.

Pre ordered a 12900k and Asus Hero MB just this AM myself. I doubt they'll come into stock in Canada until later in November.

^^ Nice Blairtruck, very clean setup, and I dig the wall mounts, I might do something similar now, as I have several different VR and headsets too.

Regarding DD5 - anyone have any, or a source for any decent 32gb kits? No.Can.Find. Anywhere. I have my 12900k cpu, and a DDR5 MB, but no ramsky. I might just pick up a DDR4 Z690 MB if I continue having no luck on the new RAM. I just HATE having to rebuild, and I know Murphy's law will apply, and if I do buy and build a DDR4 Alder lake PC, the next week or even day I'll find some DD5 that'll become available.

I want to replace my HDDs with some larger SSD/M.2, and go to a smaller case. Been running the same giant "mid" case for 9 years now. So I'd also like to know what case that is.

Looks to be the SSUP Meshlicious? Correct me if I'm wrong, or verify that I'm right @blairtruck

Also, if anyone is looking for a sorta medium ITX case, I have a pretty much perfect condition SilverStone LD03-AF case all boxed up with everything included that I used for an HTPC case for a year, can have it for FREE if anyones got a use for it. Trying to thin the ITX case herd, currently have an NCase M1, NR200P, and XTia XProto, i got bit by the ITX bug badly.
