Not necessarily this crash but 2021 should more or less kill the gpu mining market. EIP-1559 drops the rewards for mining Eth a lot and is supposedly July. Then Eth 2.0 is end of year and that completely eliminates gpus from Eth all together. Considering Eth is more or less the size of all the other small coins combined that should create some panic selling for miners. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If anyone is wondering about 3080 Ti's, Memory Express told me they aren't taking pre=orders or back-orders and they aren't listing on their website, you will have to randomly line up and hope one is in stock when you arrive. That last part sounds like it might not be true, but that's what the NW store told me.

That sounds terrible. I'm going to try to get an FE off the nvidia website if they are still selling through there as it is kind of unclear. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Sounds like bestbuy will have some tomorrow also. Their website is usually a mess for something like this though.

Then again the last guy I talked to when I was physically there told me that the 3080Ti didn't exist and wasn't coming, and if it does it would be over $3,000 Where do they get this stuff? Even the most click-batey websites don't have outrageous info like that on them.
It's how they get you not to buy it so staff get their own lol

The impression I've gotten is that NW Memex is a shit location for stock and fulfilling backorders.
I think SE is the worst - that is actually why I use NW when I have to buy from memex now. The salesbro at the NW location also told me they get lots of complaints about SE and that they don't even like dealing internally with the SE location. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. There is one giant douche at NW that I have encountered, the other two guys I have talked to here have been OK. Chad is the guy who I really liked to deal with there.
NW came through for me on my 5950X, SE nearly threw a tantrum when I bought from the NW instead haha.
I don't have any real experience with the NE, I think I've only been there a handful of times.

Never had a problem with any of their locations, I did have an accountant friend go to the SE one and she got reamed out by someone at the service desk because she asked for a power adapter for her laptop. I went there to complain on her behalf and they told me the guy got fired for being an a-hole to customers.
NW stock doesn't surprise me, it's closest to Aspen.
I think I'm just salty that I still haven't gotten my TUF 3060ti despite being 7th on the waitlist lol.
That was months ago. How have I not gotten one yet?
That's fair haha. It's hard to get excited about announcements these days when nobody can buy anything. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Does anyone know the process for pre-ordering a FE card via Nvidia's actually website? I might as well try get a 3080Ti that way, as slim of a chance it may be. Doesn't look like anything is there at the moment but official launch is tomorrow.

Trying to buy anything currently though seems to take you to like bestbuy or amazon etc so not sure if they still sell it themselves? Was just a normal shop checkout when I bought my 1080ti and then just change it to CAD$ on checkout. I will check anyways, looks like 6am pst is the time for everyone. I might buy an evga psu to qualify for the elite list which gives you early access when they list cards. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'll check as well if I remember. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Looking at reviews though the 3080Ti seems to be an absolutely terrible deal, almost as bad as the 3090, with single digit gains on the 3080 for 50% more cost. In any other market I feel like the card would be a total waste because of what they did with the 3080.
Nvidia turned over all FE sales to bestbuy and another retailer or 2. You can't buy it from Nvidia directly.
I feel like the 3080 ti will just end up being another highly scalped card. It's not good for mining on paper(tbd*) and it's so much more for minimal gains. But theres enough people struggling to get a 3070, 3080, 3090 that the secondary market will still snap them up.
I think 3070ti will make for good mining. Cheapest gddr6x memory you can get. I don't see the market for the 3080ti though, anyone willing to shell out big bucks will already have bought a 3090
All the new cards are LHR, so you'll need to get cracked drivers. Not sure if the older "dev" drivers will support the new models. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Last time, Nvidia themselves "accidentally" released a driver that removed the LHR haha. Wonder if that will happen again. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just realized today that my 3070 already hit payout! Hitting pause on mining this week though.
