With the "limiter" on the 3060, it is still worth waiting or attempting to get one at close to MSRP (i.e. waitlist at EVGA.com)?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

You can use a dev driver to bypass the limiter on the 3060. Odds of getting one is nearly zero, but yeah, if you do its worth it to mine with. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm going to assume these are IDE and not sure if you'll find a modern board that can read these. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Normally I'd say get a custom one built but some parts are still scarce so I'd actually just say get this one:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The processor and graphics card in it are newly released generations so they'll last you many years to come and it's a very powerful computer so whether you game or not it'll last a long time. It has wifi and bluetooth built in as well which is handy. You can likely ask MemoryExpress to transfer the data off those old hard drives onto a folder on the desktop, it should only take a few minutes for them to connect them and then however long to copy the files over.
Otherwise this one is a bit cheaper and would still last you a long time. The graphics card is more meant for business use rather than gaming but since you said you won't really game on it then it shouldn't matter. (It'll still play games anyways)

Do you do any gaming? Can you survive just on integrated graphics? That would make your build a lot cheaper.
there's guys selling a Dell i5 10400f with 8gb and 256GB SSD for 500-600$ on facebook.
They selling these for cheap because they pulled the 3060ti or 3070 from these
Lotta "brand new" without graphics card options on Kijiji as well.

I received a waitlist email from EVGA yesterday. Checking kijiji, looks like there's a few EVGA 3060 cards getting shipped here in the next day or two. Those kijiji listing range from 800 - 1000. With shipping, conversion and import fees, those cards should come to about $575-ish CAD.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you can get a 6800XT for retail (~$1200) I'd take it over a scalped 3070 ($1600+) if you're not playing a title that utilizes Nvidia specific tech like SPS or SMP then the 6800XT does outperform the 3070.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If anyone sees a good deal on a pre-built with a missing video card let me know

@Graham_A_M this is the cheapest I’ve seen so far, usually around 500-600 on FB or kijijiThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My 3080 finally came in. We live in a crazy times. I literally took my 2080ti out, posted on FB marketplace and it was sold in 5min for the retail (1180) of the new card.
Looks like if you back ordered Asus or gigabyte they are coming in slowly now.

Which store? I'm concerned that Memex lost my name on the list from Jan. I tried to ask last time I was there and got a "we promise you, you're still on the list" without even checking.

NW store. I also had a ftw3 ordered at the NE store Feb 10 but they made me cancel that when I picked up the Asus from NW. They definitely sticking to the lists and only selling one 3080 per ID now after all the scalping going on.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think it all depends on the model. In general Asus seems to be pumping way more 3 series to memx. I asked them if I should wait for the evga ftw and they said they haven't even been getting them
What model are you after?

Yah I got my Asus 3080 from the SW Memex a few weeks ago, was only on that list for a couple months
Is Memory Express still making you pick a very specific GPU (eg. Asus Strix OC) for their wait lists? Or can you pick any 3080 now?
The 3080Ti's will be available in June and I want to try get one however gambling on which exact model will be available is going to be a nightmare.
I tried calling Memex to ask but "Peter" in the NW location was a giant asshole and refused to even discuss GPU availability.

Ya very specific - I had to choose which 6800 xt I wanted, but the guy over the phone was very helpful. Gave him 3 choices that I wanted and he let me know which had the shortest list/which came in most often. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If they let you get on a list for a 3080Ti please let us know.
