how close do you think the first nations boats got when using their sling shots to defend the destruction of their property? Sounds absolutely terrifying for all those involved.

They have a legal right to fish and trap. You should start with going back to the basics.
Sure they have the right to fish those several hundred traps, not multiple thousand untagged traps, illegally baited. That's the point you like to ignore, because CBC won't tell you about that.

Have you ever even stepped foot on a boat in the atlantic? The boats were constantly passing within feet of one another, plenty close to be shot by a ball bearing. Take one of those to the eye and tell me they are no big deal. Hell, during herring fishing you can walk across several boats at once, they're constantly bumping into one another.

Also, remember that time their chief got his new house? ...Of course you don't

    - Michael Sack, the man charged for taking possession of a luxury home built with money stolen from the Sipekne'katik band, has been elected chief of that band.

If the native fishery only has 350 traps, how did locals destory several hundred? By going out day after day and destorying some portion of the 350?

A lot of chiefs rip off their own people. The system is broken. Then if you want to talk about it you’re racist. Then if you wanna open their books......blockades.

The Libruh MSM has gotten a hold of this story. Oh noes!

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/20/w...sultPosition=1

The lobster skirmish began last month after the Sipekne’katik First Nation opened its own fishery enterprise and began fishing lobster outside of the federal season, which takes place in the area from Nov. 30 to May 31.

There will come a time when public sentiment actually turns against FN policies.... Then shit gonna hit the fan.

I think peaceful negotiation is the best course. Nobody likes social disruption
Govt doesn't give a damn until its absolutely forced. Thats the problem.

Haven't they been peacefully negotiating on this issue for several decades? That doesn't seem to be effective.
Don't bring facts into the discussion.

Supa dexta is making stuff up. He's heard from a friend of a friend that saw something online at some point. Imagine what replacing 12000 traps would cost. Id bet their crazy expensive.

I know when I'm out on the ocean the one item I always bring is my sling shot. Its good to know I'm not he only one who carries one for self defense.

Just want to point out that that is some major whataboutism right there...I think most people's anger is how these hillbillies are handling all this (with violence and blatant racism) and making all Nova Scotians look like inbred hicks.

There is no question that all this is the government's fault, they need to step in to either make new rules or make clear declarations on the current rules. That being said, until that happens, in my mind, there's clearly one side that is taking things way too far and the corrupt RCMP is also clearly on their side by turning a blind eye. That to me is fucked....and I say this, because I've seen all the videos and I've yet to see anything where the Indigenous are acting as the aggressors. I'm open to watching them if you have links.

They just fish year round based on rules from the 1700s. Canada wasn't even around at the time, so how can they say it's their given right? They never negotiated with Canada. Time for a new set of rules that's the same for everyone.

Don't let this city slicker tell you what to do but...
Wouldn't a harpoon make more sense than a sling shot?

There should be a national sling shot registry. That would prevent sling shots being used for criminal purposes.

Ban all sling shots!!! Unless you are FN, because you require them to live in this modern society.
