Canada's indigenous people aren't as cool as the ones in New Zealand.

I wish the cbc reported anywhere near as well as the BBC. Good article here.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-54472604
I know no one read far enough in the article that mentioned the commercial fishing in the area has 979 lobster licenses with each license capable of putting out 375 to 400 traps.

The first nations issued 11 licenses with a max of 50 traps each.

Which they're not technically allowed to do. And this is on top of the poaching they do themselves.

If there are different rules for people with different skin colours it’s going to cause problems.

If you cant read the stories before commenting you should probably stop posting. You have a weird fascination with pretending you have all this knowledge on first nations topics that come up and are so far off its ridiculous.

The courts have ruled in their favor to fish. They have a right to set traps. Thats not poaching.

Go back and read the article would you? Its an over simplification of the issue at hand to the point that even you should still be able to follow along with it.

so burn the buildings down, ram the boats on the water, set fire to the vehicles? Put peoples(first nations) lives at risk?

In other threads users here would be discussing defending our property and defending our lives if something like this happened. But as this involve first nations their somehow the problem.

I hope we see some of the first nations arming themself to defend their property and their lives.

Are there seriously not enough lobsters to go around? The article mentioned a slow down in exports to China.

Face it guys, it always comes down to money. Government will subsidize the FN for their moderate livelihood and save the lobsters from poaching.

Man, your hate for the natives is palpable. I mean, I'm not their biggest fan either, after having spent close to a decade working with them in hundreds of settlements up north, but cut em some slack.

I could be wrong, but I think you missed the tongue in cheek joke there.

Then lobby your MP to remove special provisions for Native fishers. Strong action by the Feds would solve this.

I'm ignorant of most things to do with this, so can someone explain what the fuck is going on? I expect this stuff from the maple syrup cartel, but aren't fishermen normal pretty chill guys?

I think it's pretty clear, no matter which side you're on, that Trailer Park Boys isn't that far from reality in terms of what people are actually like on the East Coast. Did anyone see the video of the fishermen making fun of this Indigenous woman and her pipe? Wow. And I thought Alberta hillbillies were funny to watch. The accents in all these videos are fucking hillarious!
