I have a 240V electric heater in my 20X20 garage and I cannot even notice it on my bill - whatever it costs me is less than the tiny monthly fluctuation in power usage prior to installing the heater. I set it around 10-12C and leave it on indefinitely. Garage is insulated but detached so it isn't getting heat from my home. It was dirt cheap and I'm pretty happy with it so far. Might be a different story if I wanted my garage at 20C all the time but that isn't necessary unless I'm working out there, then I turn it up.

Yes operating costs for natural gas are a tiny fraction of electric heat.

240V might be worthwhile if you also put in EV charging / welding etc.
This. I already had a bunch of 240V outlets for the air compressor, welders, etc. So it was a no brainer for me. Would take me a long time to recoup the cost of a gas heater install, over just paying the higher power bill for 6 months a year.

I have a triple car garage with 240 plumbed in and gas as well. I'm pretty sure i'll go with NG radiant heat. Now to find a suitable installer. ANyone have any recommends for this setup?

On the topic of radiant heating.. is this worth it?

It appears my garage was plumbed for radiant floor heating but no water source or anything. I was thinking of maybe doing something to get it working but it seems this is something that needs a boiler? And the costs of those you might as well put in a NG heater.

I was thinking like something such as an electric water heater with a water circulator and a self contained loop.

Well you would need to factor in other costs for a NG heater as well that doesn't come with an electric heater.

You'd need to factor in things like the exhaust for the NG heater from the shop and I know its a fairly easy thing to do but has to be done correct, so what would that add to the additional cost?
I actually have no idea how much it costs these days. I paid $1100 15 years ago to run the gas line (undeveloped basement), install heater, exhaust, and permits.

You don't know what you're missing. 25C 24/7. Drive around in shorts year round. Just don't crash in the winter.

edit - I don't even work in my garage. It's all about keeping my cars toasty warm. I forgot all you white people park cars outside and cut up wood and build shit in the garage haha, so I get why you might not want it that hot in there.

Have you done anything to your garage door as far as sealing around the sides or additional insulation on it?

The first foot of my driveway is always melted when it snows. It's actually a PITA because it makes snowblowing impossible when fresh snow sticks to wet driveway.

Enmax always tells me I use more energy than "similar" homes. I think that means I'm winning.

Must be wack, says my house is a 1 for energy waste and an average 4 for my community.

I’m not convinced anything in my house is sealed lol.

Well I guess you won’t be invited to mud wrestling in the garage during the peak of winter.

Start a thread about it. It can go like this:

OP: should I host garage mud wrestling in peak winter?

    Everyone: Yes!!

OP: meh... I think I'll just jerk off into a kiddie pool beside my garage instead.

To be fair he was asking for advice on who to use to install a gas heater.
