    Default Hummer EV Truck Debuts

This thing is pretty awesome. Puts down 1000HP and 11,500TQ. 0-60 in 3 sec.

The torque specs are not crazy high if the motors are direct drive. A typical v8 will have it’s torque multiplied by several times through a gearbox, differential and torque converter in gears lower than cruising speed. Marketing wank for everybody.

Unless I have marthed this, after final drive and in first gear that’s more effective torque than a Duramax Allison 6speed combo.

Seems like a lot of torque for small truck to me

I think it’s actually kindof cool and they will sell every one they make at whatever price they want to.

I had very little confidence in Telsa actually delivering the vehicles they promised, and look at how foolish that seems now. However, is it possible that GMC is even less likely to successfully build and deliver these?

All vehicles are cool, and EV trucks are cooler than average. Can't wait to see one out front of Starbucks.

This thing is awesome. Couple of complaints though:

    1. The tq figures that they publish are misleading. I mean of course they won’t advertise it only has 400lbft, but at least say something realistic.

    2. The name. Just like ford using the mustang brand for their EV. I get why, I just think it’s silly.

Regardless, it’s great. 115k USD and it can be yours. I’m way more confident that they’ll deliver as advertised than anything Elon claims. Edit: normally I’d hate on them for using tracing paper to design this thing, but they picked the best thing to copy.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

    It crabwalks!

I hope this isn't based on the Nikola Badger "platform" since it actually needs to go up hills.

EE estimated that motor torque is about 335ft/lb per motor, so total around 1000ft/lb if we go back to quoting engine torque.

Like all EVs, it's how often the user push it to the limits. But the battery is made up of 24 independent modules/controllers. So in theory, you can address just the pack that degraded most.

I bet it can make it up the toughest driveway you can throw at it, should be nothing to worry about.

Kind of weird timing on the other models. EV Edition 1, Fall 2021, EV3X Fall 2022, EV2X Spring 2023 and EV2 Spring 2024.
Neat way to bring back the hummer brand though especially with the cybertruck on its way.

Ah, we dont seem to get the edition 1 so it is in canada from fall 2022.

Agreed. This is the design antithesis to the new Bronco.

    Nothing to worry about.

GM Admits It Doesn't Actually Have A Real, Working Hummer EV Yet

    https://insideevs.com/news/450345/gm...ev-exists-yet/

General Motor's GMC Hummer EV reveal was supposed to happen back in May. However, like many other events, it was delayed for many months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When it finally happened this week, it wasn't actually an event at all, and there was no real electric pickup truck.

There was no live stream, no electric pickup truck on a stage, no execs talking, nothing. Instead, GM played what appeared to be a 6-minute CGI video of the Hummer EV tackling tough terrain. The video ended, we waited and waited, and then asked ourselves and our team, "Was that it?"

Yes, that was it. Well, it turns out, GM doesn't yet have a working Hummer electric pickup truck. It has a display vehicle, as well as the battery platform, but as far as the vehicle is concerned, it doesn't exist. Keep in mind, GM says this vehicle is just one year away. Meanwhile, chief engineer Al Oppenheiser admitted:While this may be shocking to some people, it's becoming increasingly common. Startups and automakers are showing off future vehicles without actually having a vehicle developed. GM is currently working on a partnership to build the Nikola Badger electric pickup truck, which was officially unveiled in the form of a bunch of renderings.

Depending on how you look at it, this isn't all that different from the days of concept cars at auto shows. They were there for people to drool over, but weren't typically working vehicles. However, we can also argue that this is much different since companies are touting specs for these cars, taking reservations, and treating them as if they are production vehicles, while not actually having an example on hand.
