lol, forgot all about Jetsgo. From their wiki

On 20 January 2005 a Jetsgo McDonnell Douglas MD-83 landing in poor weather and low visibility at Calgary International Airport, in Calgary, Alberta, veered left off runway 34 and hit a runway hold-short sign, damaging landing gear and flaps. The plane then declared a missed approach, took off and landed again. There were no casualties.

haha, went off the runway, damaged the plane but took off and landed again. holy hell.
WTF. I can’t think of a scenario where you land, smash into something and call for a go-around while already on the ground. No wonder the tickets were so cheap.

That's because it's just one guy's take. GDP has gone down for everyone:

While it's true that US isn't as bad as Canada, they have been impacted quite significantly.
If you wonder what success against COVID looks like.

Airlines should be exposed to market conditions, just like every other entity that benefits from capitalism.
It doesn't because it only take 1 state supporting the industry to pwn everyone else.

Yes, I'm sure their zero case tally is totally absolutely legit.

They tested 9M people in Qingdao in 5 days on 12 case detection.

End of the day, the Chinese overachieving and overreacting has proved effective against COVID.

Westjet offering refunds on flights they cancelled.

Air Canada doesn't understand the concept.

I'm sure JaYoe is a CCP shill but some of what he said rings true.

Your "data points" are derived from the same supposition.

I totally agree. It's probably not zero, but the fact that they have resembled 'normal' life for the past month tells me that its probably not rampantly spreading uncontrollably.

Some may say that they are "over-reacting", but they did the right thing. Short term pain for long term gain.

Are you talking about he draconian lockdowns they enforced earlier this year?

I think that helped on the original version of COVID. But the current one is now considered imported for the Chinese.

But when they can test 9M people within a week along with mandatory app for contact tracing, they instill a bit more confidence in the general population. Even most don't like the ulterior motive of such invasion of privacy.

    Here we go.

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ilot-1.5772637

    This is what travelers need.

Travellers entering Canada by land or air through Alberta will soon have the option of being tested for COVID-19 at the border, Radio-Canada has learned.

The mandatory quarantine period for returning international travellers will be maintained for now, but the 14-day day self-isolation period could be shortened if a traveller receives a negative COVID-19 test result.

Don't worry, the CCP will ensure people start eating out again.

Govts will topple over this. Just get ready to either rebel or get a bullet to the back of your head.

I hardly doubt that at this point since how quick CCP can disappear any dissidents.

And the bond market is slowly agreeing.

The pandemic has made Chinese bonds even more attractive. While the U.S, Europe, and Japan have been on a money-printing binge and piling on more debt to support their economies, China has been much more restrained. The People’s Bank of China’s balance sheet is largely flat, while the Fed’s has almost doubled. China also stands apart as the only major economy projected to grow this year, while the U.S. and Europe are still grappling with the virus. That’s reflected in the differentials in interest rates.

As we wind down oil economy and influence of USD, China can play the long game and people looking for good returns will play ball.

I got that money back months ago via visa chargeback. Anyone still sitting with cash in westjet's bank account either doesn't care about money or didn't read the corona travel thread and if that's the case, I blame the mods for not creating a coronavirus sub thread like one respected member suggested.

I'll support a bit of $ to keep WestJet and AC afloat.

Remember when we were down to just air Canada and they were on strike?

Let's not get back to that.
