CEWS and workshare programs are basically “targeted” at any and all industries that require assistance to keep people employed. Hell, they even rewarded work share to a water park Corp....
government bureaucracies are ideally suited to managing the complexities of an entire economy.
Air Canada and Westjet can go tits up. Let Canadian North and Flair have the spotlight lol

Airlines should be exposed to market conditions, just like every other entity that benefits from capitalism.
Wardair for the win.
I am not committed one way or the other about this issue, but in my mind I think if the government is going to enforce specific restrictions that cause market issues, there is some responsibility, but if the market issues come organically than it is another issue. Kind of like saying some companies (like liquor stores) were essential and could stay open, but restaurants no... That is a weird mindset IMHO.
Bring back Canada 3000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First ever plane I was on was a Canada 3000 A-330 I think. Maybe the 757. This was 20 years ago.

When Canada 3000 went tits-up I had to rebook my flight onto british airways at considerable extra cost. But it was a great trip, so I dunno, kinda conflicted. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

No Canadian fans? Pops use to have super duper status with them (like, top 5 miles of all customers one year) ...was always a good experience. But barely being a teen when they went under I’m sure all that took was a free cookie or 5 in the lounge
This would make me smile. I still have an old wardair 747 toy from when I was a kid somewhere. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Wonder if you were booked to fly on the Canada 3000 A340-300 in their fleet. They had one in their fleet. Would have been so cool! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Jetsgo. Nothing like flying in clapped-out MD-83s on a 5 hour flight from Vancouver to Toronto at 20,000ft.
Ah I see. Trying to think back to my first flight and I'm pretty sure it was a 757. I got to go into the cockpit mid flight and visit with the pilots. Damn that was amazing. That was the one and only flight I was ever on prior to 9-11.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

On 20 January 2005 a Jetsgo McDonnell Douglas MD-83 landing in poor weather and low visibility at Calgary International Airport, in Calgary, Alberta, veered left off runway 34 and hit a runway hold-short sign, damaging landing gear and flaps. The plane then declared a missed approach, took off and landed again. There were no casualties.
haha, went off the runway, damaged the plane but took off and landed again. holy hell.
