Planning to go to Sunshine next saturday, does anyone know how early we have to be there to get in? i heard they stop accepting guests once the parking lot is full.
I went a week ago Friday and asked one of the lifties at the gondola what time they were closing the parking lot. He told me that it's so inconsistent at the moment that they have stopped trying to predict. Some weekends it's 8:30 others it doesn't get full. Regardless, I usually aim to be in the parking lot somewhere around 7:15 to 7:30. The warming hut at the base opens at 8am so you can go in there and hang out until the lifts open.

Pretty sure Nakiska has relaxed a ton with the restrictions. I was there on sunday and the lot was full where as the last 2 times i went this year it was at most half, all 3 days i went the ticks were sold out too. They used to block the urinals in the middle and now theyre all open. The line wasnt as bad as i expected though and from the end which basically touched the racers tower or whatever you call that thing it was 20 minutes.

If you're the type that only goes a couple times a year and dont want to miss out on a day id plan to be there by 7:30 just in case.

Staying the weekend in Rossland, pretty cool little town and I really like the terrain on Red mountain. Looks like I came one week too early though, hasn't snowed here in a while, off piste is icy, but snow is in the forecast everyday next week.

Good deals too. Beautiful new 1br condos with private hot tub for $220 a night and 30% off lift tickets.

You should be good next week, BC has no intention to do anything like that yet.

Well they could effectively close the border by requiring a quarantine.

Lol no surprise to see longhorn on there. It won’t impact whistler though imo. They’ve already had huge outbreaks with their staff and seem to handle them well.

Big white had a big outbreak too, business as usual. Sounds like it’s all the degenerate staff that live together in 10+ person housing arrangements. Fuckin Aussies...

Depends where you live but that pretty much is the case. I worked in Ops for a season and lived in Chucktown, it was the most insane year of my life party-wise.

As for degenerates cramming themselves in, take a look at the wages you earn when working at a hill. Combine that with the price of things like food in a resort town, and you can understand why people have to live stacked up with 9+ in a unit.

*Edit - LL had a company store in the basement of Chucktown when I lived there. No real grocery store in Louise other than the market with its own high prices, so people often would charge stuff like $8 2L orange juice on their company card. It was a common sight on payday to see Aussies/Brits crying because the amount of food they'd charged in 2 weeks combined with their shitty wage resulted in them owning money to the company at payday... lol.

    Thanks!

Big white does get a lot of fog, I would say at least 2-3 days a week are foggy. If you know the mountain well, you can usually find pockets at gem lake or Black Forest that aren’t sopped right in. Today was my 6th day up and only 2 have been foggy.
Going on day 35 at big white and only 6 have been clear. The fog has been so thick it has driven me nuts, but the snow has been so good to make up for it.

Mt. Baldy just two hours south of Big White has been awesome, around 70cm snowfall this last week.

Baldy doesn’t have much for vey steep terrain, but most of the mountain is natural features with very little grooming. Awesome mountain for tree riding. Pow Thursdays are great, I make it there pretty much every Thursday.

Nice! I'm closing in on 30. Was at Big White last week. Made the mistake of taking the T-Bar, and it was near vertigo up there. Did lots of Gem Lake circuits though. Great snow.

Got some pow at Louise yesterday too.

Heading to revy today. Hoping the back country is pretty good. Heard it wasn’t all that great about 10 days ago but they have gotten like a meter of snow since then.
