Why, did you put a deposit down on a Corolla GR?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I did but I’m also not taking the Corolla. Not planning to buy anything, nothing gives me the warm fuzzies. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I previously owned a 2017 R with the DSG, also in Lapiz Blue. I bought it new and then got rid of it a few years later at the beginning of Covid, but kind of regretted that decision. I’ve been casually keeping an eye on MK8 R’s for a while, though I had no interest in paying over sticker price and waiting for up to a year to get one. Even though there are still plenty of delusional dealerships in AB trying to sell them for North of $60K, after some shopping around I found a slick top MT for under sticker price with no BS packages. And seeing as the 2024 MY is the last year you'll be able to buy one with a stick shift, I went for an MT this time around. Bring on the haptic button jokes

@94boosted should do a better job getting up the driveway than the ol' Fiesta.

The pathfinder didn't last long, or do you still have that too?
I see Northland VW is hoarding these things with 15 available on their website asking up to $65k lol. That's just way too close to M240i pricing.
They don't seem to care how long cars sit on the lot for. They've had that Nissan Z for at least a year now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Every company I have worked for has been obsessed with inventory turns so I have a hard time getting my head around car dealership logic. I suppose they feel in a city this large they only need a very small handful of people that are so rich they don't care or want the car so bad they don't care about the consequences. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. VW dealers seem to have a different concept than other brands. I don't know if they get more finance help for inventory or what.

That's a great car 94Boosted - particularly with the slick roof option, I dig it, big time, and of course the MT.

Northland is always terrible to deal with anything they deem premium, special or rare, and I know people there. Sister in law and her husband did get a Taos at MSRP pretty easily there last year though.
I think you're spot on. I remember seeing a post about paying "only" $9k over MSRP from them about a month agoThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Man it's crazy how times have changed when people feel good about paying $9k over MSRP. It's a real shame that most of these sport compact cars have become unattainable for a lot of the people that covet them most. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
From what I understand, the small grace period they had to sell cars before having to pay carrying costs was taken away during Covid due to ultra-low inventory, and hasn't come back. So, you'd think they'd be even more incentivized to move units. But that doesn't seem to be the case. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
