I wonder how many people bought options without realizing they need the capital to exercise those options. Unless their brokerage will auto exercise it and then liquidate the shares to cover the cost? If so that defeats the purpose of the squeeze anyways.

Almost no one exercises the options. You sell before expiry. Can't think of an advantage to assignment.
