My buying experience is a few years old now but they would not negotiate at all on any particulars surrounding financing and there was limited negotiation on the actual price of the car. I used car-cost-canada's print out on the year and model of our RDX with a bit of success on the second time chatting with them and even then it only went from "the price is the price" to "okay well this is the best we can do" (which wasn't much). They were willing to deal make on accessories like rear cargo mat and 3M but for the most part it didn't seem like there was much room to even try to negotiate. Had my wife not been dead set on an Acura we likely would have left.
Their service department is horrendous to deal with and on more than one occasion when my wife was taking the car in (I was on night shift) the upsell pressure, or confusing way they would lay out the work to be done was extremely disheartening. She had a pebble stuck in her rear passenger dust cover on her brakes so I told her to ask them to take the wheel off and get it out and we'd pay the $40-60 for the 15 minutes of time it took to do that. Somehow that morphed into them taking all 4 wheels off at $100/wheel to inspect the dust covers on top of doing additional service work we didn't approve of but they did anyways because it was close enough to the service interval. After having to get the service manager involved on two separate times of them pulling that sort of shit on her and dealing with being given credit towards future work we just flat out stopped going there at all. My satellite radio cut out and stayed out for long periods of time and I was told thats a sirus problem not Acura. They gave me a loaner RDX that did not have the same issue and it was only after I brought that up did they replace the radio and its been working fine since. The $22 battery for the key fob was just the cherry on time.
Any routine maintenance that I don't do myself gets done at a Honda dealership or if I need parts I will go to the Acura dealership in the NW. Their prices on parts are about 75-80% less than Silverhill for genuine Acura parts and so far my exposure to their service department is much much more positive than Silverhill.
Well Mr. Schurchill39 I can relate to the purchase portion of your post. Last night we brought home the wife's new car (2020 MDX A-Spec, the bright blue one) and had there not been significant factory money built into the deal and the wife being very particular about the vehicle I'm not sure I would have bought there. The salesman was 3/5 stars, very broken English, nice enough but not a car guy at all. It was largely a self serve transaction. They gave us the same trade in value on the outgoing vehicle that two other dealerships gave us so no complaints there. I can't really comment on the business office too much, it was a cash deal and the guy could tell pretty quick I wasn't going to tolerate any up sell / twisting of the numbers. Oddly they didn't even mention winter tires & rims, I had to call the parts department the next day for pricing on that (which I ended up buying from them anyway, made sure the parts department got credit for the sale). Delivery of the vehicle was supposed to be with their delivery specialist but we ended up with the same salesman that we had trouble understanding, so he just talked louder...lol. The wife has her car so she's happy but I won't be in a rush to return for service, probably going to try to figure out the best Honda shop in the South end of town.
On that note, who do you guys like for Honda shops in the South end of town (service department)?
